Are Smoltz, Glavine, and Maddux part of the best starting rotation ever?

I cant remember a better starting rotation in my lifetime. Throw in a little Steve Avery and that is a pretty strong lineup.

I would say so but I am biased. They usually had a great fourth starter as well .

Probably. 1998 was those guys Neagle and Millwood.

After them, you're looking at teams from the early part of the century or the 60s and 70s (like the Dodgers and Orioles).

The Braves' bullpen in the 90s was literally insane.

I would say so. There might be a few that were better for a one or two year stretch but there was never a rotation that was as good for as long.

The 5 Aces were probably the best

Avery
Smith
Maddux
Glavine
Smoltz

The Domination Rotation was pretty good also dropping Smith and adding Mercker. What made that staff so great was Wohlers on the back end.
