Federal pound me in the arse prison more than likely. If you're lucky, maybe you can still see him for conjugal visits

what this was that he was caught with is a big predictor, too.
with bail north of 50k, it ain't weed.
Typically, they will want his sources, and their sources, etc bargain, deal, bargain = slap on the wrist/ min. actual time.
Unless this is an occupational hazard for your boy...

CRO if he gets a good lawyer and its a first offense.
Depends on the drug too.

not sure what drug was.. i know he used to mess with meth, and was big time into coke and roxy
Posted on 2/1/16 at 5:06 pm to oleyeller
Sounds like Coke. If he's rich enough to get a great attorney he can probably get CRO or go to rehab instead of jail. But I think blow had mandatory minimums. But with all things, its all about the $$. He doesn't get a good lawyer, then he's fricked.
Doubt it was Roxy because if he had more than a few they could have got him for trafficking.
I'm not a lawyer.
Eta. Plus a bond that high makes me think its coke.
Never heard the church thing, just near schools.

What state? 100k bail sounds like pretty serious. first offense is typically 5 years probation and mandatory AA or NA meeting, community service, fines, restitution. A good lawyer keeps "felon" off your record.

Close to a school, I get it. But why does it matter if they were close to a church or not?

A ton of churches have pre-schools or daycares in them. The CVS next to my house can't sell booze for that reason, it's so annoying. As far as the OP goes the 2 arrests being so close together might actually end up being a good thing as long as he has never been arrested before, he can argue this was basically a one-time thing caused by drugs and maybe get a chance to go to rehab to get better. It's certainly much better than them being a year or two apart.

What does that have to do with anything?
Gawd I hate how society is arranged.

there is a BR resident that was recently busted trafficking meth out of state. Bond was set at 500k.
Can't imagine what's next.

So wait... the church can steal money from people, but people can't sell drugs near that same church???
I'd actually consider the drug dealing less of a crime... At least you get something for your money.

Went to school with the guy. Had a big bust this weekend and saw he was involved. Whats he looking at?
Probabtion is first offense.
The 1500 feet of a church will get tossed out.

Google says MS law on selling dope allows, in the discretion of the court, up to double penalties if done within:
(1,500) feet of, a building or outbuilding which is all or part of a public or private elementary, vocational or secondary school, or any church, public park, ballpark, public gymnasium, youth center or movie theater or within one thousand (1,000) feet of, the real property comprising such public or private elementary, vocational or secondary school, or any church, public park, ballpark, public gymnasium, youth center or movie theater
MS Code § 41-29-142 (2013)
The cat in this case sold coke within 1500 ft of a church. He got 30 years, and could have received as much as 60 years, but they had mercy.
Bonus: He couldn't ever get parole because the church-enhanced thing DQ'd him under MS law.
Your mileage may vary.
Stay in school, kids. Don't do drugs.
