I really don't think AG is the issue. It's Dell hiring a guy who runs a specific system when we don't have the players to fit that system. What's sad is we are wasting ADs time here, too. Management and rosters changes must be made before next season.

This whole organization is a mess. At least when we used to suck it was fun to watch and there were fan favorites on the team. I can count on one hand the games I've watched this year. It's just ugly and not fun in the slightest. The players are unlikeable and whiny. They trade or cut any player that are fun/likable in the spirit of "competing" newsflash - we suck and it's time to blow this bitch up.

I've been lamenting the shitty "young veteran" model since they started it, and now finally the chickens have come home to roost. We're saddled with awful contracts for marginal players that are hurt all the time and have auctioned our picks to the highest bidder or in pursuit of aforementioned awful contracts.

Well, what's the problem then? Gentry had blamed everyone but himself. Do the players not like playing for him, such that they do not give full effort?

Just because Gentry is a bum doesn't mean Monty was a great coach.

I disliked Monty and he wasn't the one to get us to the next level. I HATED the Gentry hire almost to a near meltdown and was proven right.

I don't think coaching is the biggest problem, and I say that as someone who posted a thread the other day asking if Gentry was tanking. The problem with the Young Veterans strategy is that the assets it required meant you've got no variety on your roster. You don't have rookies and young guys pushing from the bottom of the roster and you don't have veterans that can still play pulling from the top of the roster. You just have a bunch of young veterans waiting for someone to tell them what to do. Then you changed from a coach that told them what to do to a coach that tells them to play harder.

I want some flavor of Tyreke for Rondo to happen. We need to cash out Ryno and Gordon too, but I think this team could really learn a lot from Rondo, and unlike Perkins, he can still play.

You buried the lead.

With the Pelicans’ season not going as planned, the franchise has begun exploring the possibility of change. Shooting guard Eric Gordon and forward-center Ryan Anderson, both in the last years of their contracts, and Evans have been discussed in potential trade scenarios, but nothing is imminent, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 18.

Tyreke is officially in the trade rumors.

I agree this is all about the type of players we have that need to be directed and told what to do, and having a coach that expects them to already know what to do.
Gentry has to break it down Barney style and tell them what to do until he can get them to the point they already know what to do, and can execute the offense or know when to change a play because they know what to do. It's a simple fix, we had to deal with this shot all the time in the Marines.

I got called an idiot for not liking the hire....i didn't want them to hire a damn retread coach. Wanted them to take a chance on a guy who hasn't been a head coach yet....you know....FIND someone.

I don't disagree. However, he is not blameless (and yet he acts as if he is).

Can the word "officially" and "rumors" be used together like that?

My thing was at the time, if you are going to go the route of a veteran coach, get the best you can that matches the roster you have.

When you look at our group of guys JVG and Thibs made the most sense. Proven coaches. And not just that, proven coaches that have shown the ability to win with a roster like ours and proven to be able to better the areas we needed to improve the most, namely defense, discipline and consistency over a season.

And the fact we don't have a strong competitive personality to take on the leadership role, to anchor this team and keep them focused through a season, means you kinda have only the coach as an alternative.

Effort issues transcend Gentry though. They were ever present last year too. People just had a different set of excuses then.

A losing record in games with 2+ days rest under Monty last year speaks to the lack of focus and discipline our roster often had.

Which is Perkins main complaint in this article. Lack of effort.

He seems to be saying what Gentry is saying and what we have seen last year too, our guys don't play consistently with effort, intelligence or heart. Basically they lack that competitive drive far too often.

I don't think everyone actually read the article.

Not an excuse for Gentry- he's been bad. But Perkins is saying the same things about effort here.

Might as well trade him what is he doing for us? Also he's throwing the team under the bus and he doesn't care to be here
