I agree with this. Baton Rouge donut scene is either Mary Lee or Krispy Kreme.

Aaron Vogel, co-owner of the popular District Donuts on 2209 Magazine St. in New Orleans, confirmed that he and his business partners are looking to bring the concept to Baton Rouge.

I'd take Mary Lee over district. They're a cool place, but their donuts are like cake pillows.

Ugh. Mary Lee Donuts. The one in Drusilla Shopping Center, the donuts all have a slight strange aftertaste, that's somewhere between raw garlic and how nail polish remover smells.

I'm a big fan of Dunkin. Thankfully, there's not a location that's convenient for me, or I would bulk up to 350.

Yep. District is very overrated IMO.

I've never been to District and I pretty much only like glazed donuts that are super light and airy, but I follow their Instagram and their savory breakfast sandwiches and lunch dishes look good. Anyone ever had any?

Easy bud, you're not splitting the atom here. The cupcake craze of the last decade similarly had a field day with the Peter Pan syndrome crowd who think repurposing Frosted Flakes into a pastry is groundbreaking.

I eat maybe one donut a year so it really doesn't matter to me where it comes from. My only request is that it be fresh.

But how many donuts do you have to shove out the door to make a decent living? I don't recall many donut shop owners posting on the OT so I'm guessing they aren't 1% ers.

I like all of their other stuff better than the donuts actually.

I like District, but it seems like they are more and more tourist dependent.

I think a place like Gautreau's or Coquette would print money in BR. Small, not a ton of tables and would immediately blow everything there out of the water. Of course I have no idea how to run a restaurant, so WTF do I know.

I've had several of their sliders and like them. My favorite doughnut is the Nutella

I think the "concept" is silly, but apparnetly the women and hipsters seem to love it when I've stopped in. I really don't need crushed fruit loops and frosted flakes though.

The sliders and kolaches are legit. Could care less about the donuts.

Michael Stoltzfus will be leaving Coquette when I win the powerball tomorrow. He doesn't know it, but it's true.

District sells other things besides donuts that are underrated. They also sell their own jams, pickles, etc.

Yeah the coffee is meh .

I tried the iced coffee recently and stevia couldn't mask the bitterness.

Their grapefruit juice is legit though.

You win 1.5 billion and you stay in BR? You're doing it wrong, brah.
