quote:my experience since moving to a place that has real winter is that people just dress more appropriately for it and they have the right clothes for it. hats, gloves, scarves, heavier shoes and socks, stadium blankets, and more layers. and once you get cold, it's pretty much impossible to get warm again.
How do people stay warm in the stands during these cold games?
i took my dad to the western PA high school championship games last year at Heinz Field and the temperature dropped from about 20 to 15 over the course of the game w/ pretty steady wind. that was really brutal.

Went to a browns game vs the Panthers and it was 8 degrees with (im guessing] negative wind chills coming off lake Erie. Wore a snowmobile suit to the game.

i think eli manning threw for like 50 yards
and went to super bowl 44 in miami in shorts and a polo. it was sunny and hot during the day but once the sun set it dropped into the 50s

Liberty Bowl in January 2010, Arkansas vs. ECU.
It was like a 5pm kick and temps were nearing the teens at kickoff and kept going down. Of course the game was long and went into overtime.
I believe the windchill was about 0 by the time it was over.

Hottest was Ole Miss vs Auburn 1990 at Memorial Stadium in Jackson. It was around 96-98 degrees and I'm pretty sure the heat index was around 110. I stood in line at the concession stand from the beginning of halftime until finally getting served halfway through the 3rd. I bought a large coke and drank it all in one gulp before returning to my seat.

2012 Independence Bowl. ULM vs Ohio. Didn't care about either team. Just got free tickets. It was 40° with a wind chill around 33° and a steady mist. Not terrible cold but pretty unpleasant when you're not dressed for it and a game you already don't care about turns into a blowout. Left shortly into the 3rd

Played a game in high school when it was 27 in BR. Water on field from rain earlier bad frozen over. Worst night of my life, parkview beat us 42-0 in the Semi Finals. Couldn't imagine being in 0 degree weather

Giants at Packers NFC championship January 2008. At lambeau, temp was -1 at kickoff. And of course it went to overtime.

I went with my buddy to the Chiefs-Dolphins game in 2008
The temperature at kickoff was 10 degrees and the wind chill was -12 degrees
Of course, we had seats in the shade so the temperature was estimated to be -25 degrees
I still have nightmares

Jacksonville st/McNeese St. playoff game in 2013. Don't know what the temperature was but I wore three jackets, blue jeans with windpants underneath and a cap and I was still cold. My feet became numb in the 4th quarter, stayed the whole game cause I don't leave games early, and it felt like I didn't get feeling back in them until I got home which was at least 45 mins after the game. Of course, McNeese laid an egg at home in the playoffs. For the moment, I vow to never to go a cold weather game again unless the team I'm pulling for is going to win.

Not sure how cold it was, but the 1st SEC Championship game in Birmingham was the coldest I've ever been at a game. I was buying sweatshirts to put over my sweatshirt.
