So correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that his new 30% of cap max deal, under the DRose rule, is contingent upon his starting as an all-star or being all-NBA twice.

He's only done each of those once. He was able to sign his new deal with the expectation that he would meet said criteria this season.

I'd say that its certainly possible at this point that he does not meet either of those two expectations this year. Does his contract revert back to 25% of cap at that point?

It's certainly in question.

Yes, if he does not meet the requirements his deal will revert to 25%, rather than 30% that was anticipated.

Good. He isn't worth 30% of the cap because number 1 he constantly misses 15-20 games a year and number 2 it's a guard and point forward driven league.

He will be an all-star... the coaches know what's up if the fans don't vote him in... without AD we're Sixers bad

I'd say he doesn't deserve it because he doesn't give 90-100% every game.

I'm sure more players do it and I just don't see it because I don't watch every game they play like I watch the Pels but AD seems to only play hard and give real effort in about every other game or so.

That doesn't matter. He has to be voted an all star starter for the Rose rule. He has to rely on getting voted all NBA if he is going to get 30% now.

This is good news. Gives us more cap space plus it will serve as a wake-up call to AD. No one should feel sorry for him if he makes 110 mil vs 140 mil. 140 mil contracts should only be for players like LeBron and Curry.

So does the All-NBA requirement mean first team? or Any all-NBA team?

I'd say there's no way in hell he's getting first team at this rate. He'd have to go absolutely nuts from this point forward to have a change imo.

Is there any particular time frame? Like if he doesn't make it this year, and reverts to 25% for next season, then makes it that season - does it bump up to 30% at that point?

No, he has to make it this year. If he doesn't meet the qualifications this season his deal is 25% of BRI next season with 7.5% raises each season thereafter.

Any all NBA team. He has no chance at first team and I don't think he will make it at all if we are a lottery team.

From a few days ago... with about a week left of voting, he is gonna need some crazy ballot stuffing to get to that 3 spot.

Western Conference - Frontcourt
1 Kobe Bryant (LAL) 1,262,118
2 Kevin Durant (OKC) 616,096
3 Draymond Green (GS) 332,223
4 Kawhi Leonard (SA) 330,929
5 Blake Griffin (LAC) 298,212
6 Anthony Davis (NO) 261,491

As for the All-NBA vote, barring injuries I think these 4 guys are locking up 4 of 6 spots. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Blake Griffin

The guys that are winning that could take the other 2? Paul George, Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol.. hell even Paul Milsap or Draymond. Paul George could be a lock if healthy. AD23 is gonna need to play a lot of games and get a lot more positive media to lock that 6th spot up.

Draymond is a lock for an all nba slot. He's a top 3 defender in the league, he almost averages a triple double, and he plays for a team that is going to win 75 plus games.

Absolutely crazy to think that AD is most likely gonna lose 30M before taxes on his deal because of one bad year. I mean, who in the world would have predicted at the time of signing that contract that he wouldn't actually fulfill the requirements?

No one, and as shitty as it sounds it's much better for the team if he doesn't get the Rose Rule max. ~5 mil more cap space next season.

Yea, I wish he could fulfill the requirements, because that would me he and our team played at a high level this year, but if he doesn't could be huge to have an extra 5-6M per year in cap space without losing anyone.

It's not even really AD's bad year... team success or lack thereof is the reason he won't get the Rose max
