re: Fournette - "I’ve got two more years left of college"

I don't think he's staying his senior season but I'm gonna play devils advocate here; it's not like this was a direct question about him staying so the "of course he's going to say that" doesn't apply here, really.

2 years of college does not equal 2 seasons of football.
This. I'm sure he will come back to finish his degree at some point .

Two years of remaining college coursework needed for his degree maybe.
Precisely.

Every LSU fan should forcibly make Fournette enter the draft next year, against his will. There is almost no scenario barring major injury where coming back is in his best interest.
Sure there is. The only reason the NFL is in his "best interest" is money. There's plenty more to life than money. He's the type of person that, even if he blew out his knees and never played a down of pro football, he'll be successful at whatever he decides to do.

I honestly don't think he has 100% made up his mind. He probably won't make that decision for until after next season. So for now he does have two years of college left. He doesn't have to make a decision this year and is under no obligation to.

As much as I would love to have him here for four years, dude needs to go make his money after next season. He deserves every penny

Every NFL owner in January, 2017:

It would be awesome if he had another hat pick ceremony next year.

Gonna shock the world and come back.

Is LF counting summer classes, and does he mean the equivilent of five semesters left?

Should we have a separate thread for Ben Simmons on this topic?

he's a different dude, you never know.

Anyone who finds it odd that he would say this has never paid attention to the actions of this young man. Someone as humble as he is would never publicly say that he will be good enough to declare in three years. No matter how asinine that statement sounds. Every accolade he has received he has credited someone other than himself for it.
Many athletes could learn a lot from him. I can think of a couple youngsters from Louisiana who could do much worse for themselves than to model their pursuits after him.

I love LF, but if he plays 4 seasons of college ball I will be utterly shocked. It makes zero sense. The dude has a family who is depending on him, and a kid.

Buga isn't your typical college star. I would not be surprised to see him play here 4 years

Instead of being the 2017 #1 pick?
LF7 is a good fella if it's true.

Or he could finish early (before the 2017 NFL Spring Training starts) and play Pro Ball in 2017. He wouldn't be the only person to finish in three years (there was a fellow at USA, Michael Kearney, who had his Bachelors degree when he was 10 years old, but Fournette is probably not that advanced). Never the less, Fournette would gain nothing from staying through his senior year except finishing the degree. But Fournette has a different mindset from most other college students/athletes.

If he stays for 4 years, I will question his sanity.
RB's are injury prone and have a short lifespan in the NFL. They are not the bellcow position they once were. They are rarely drafted in the first round, and teams generally no longer have a single "feature back". No matter how good he is in college, he will likely need a good college education to fall back on after his NFL career is over.

did he say he had two more years of playing, or two more years of studying to get a degree?
