This will tell me what I need to know. If you don't mind, could you tell me what you think about the mike brown shooting. I know it's off topic and I'll get right back on topic after this.

I am not defending the kid. He should not have pointed the gun anywhere. Bad kid mistake. The cop also should have handled the kid with the "most probably fake gun" which was not in his sight or hands, much differently. Not shoot within less than two seconds when the kid was not reaching for the gun, but showing the cops where the "most probably fake" gun was. Bad cop mistake who is held to a higher standard.

Now that was handled fine in my opinion. Cop should not have reached into car, but that's minor. Shooing was fine, IMO.

"most probably fake" gun was.
You're being totally disingenuous with these 'facts'. The officers were told by the dispatcher that the person had a GUN, nothing was relayed to them about it being a "toy". Until you accept that fact there is no purpose for anyone to further discussion about this situation with you.

So everyone agrees:
Kid made bad mistake by POINTING a gun at people not the term brandishing.
911 dispatch failed to mention "probably a fake gun" as caller stated.
Police reacted premature in firing before actually witnessing a gun on the "suspect"
Police lied about multiple aspects of the events to attempt to cover up what really happened until the video shows the actual event.
Now that we all agree, let the jury decide.

Cop still trigger happy. Two seconds while kid was showing him where it was.

With this I agree 100%. Wonder if cops will be brought up on charges of falsifying a report? I bet they do not.

It's 12 year old with a toy gun. He didn't threaten anyone.
Youre better than this. How would you feel if a random black person pointed a gun at you? You dont know if it's a real gun, you dont know that he's 12 years old (his physical attributes were that of a normal sized man), you dont know anything. Let me ask you, if you had a CC permit and were carrying, and your wife and yourself walked past this kid on the sidewalk and he reached in his waistband and grabbed this gun to point at you or your wife, would you allow him? No, you'd draw as fast as you could and put that piece of shite down! The fact that he was young and it was a toy gun is completely irrelevant. Cops were called to a scene on high alert and to their knowledge a person was threatening people with a gun. You want them to get shot a first to determine how dangerous of a situation it is?

I think everyone should agree with this.

I think they should from the top down.

That is not actually how the call was dispatched to the cops. Have you read anything about this incident? They were simply told it was a gun. The pistol that rice was carrying also had the Orange tip removed to indicate that it was a toy
Have you read up on it? I actually listened to the 911 call and the caller said several times that the gun was a toy.

They told the dispatcher not the responding cops. The dispatcher told the cops he had a gun. Anyway I would think all cops would treat any gun as a real gun.

the cop asked me if i had a weapon in the car. my honest answer was, "Yes." He immediately put his hand on his weapon and asked me to get out of the car. Which i did slowly. after a few minutes of being really nervous, he called in my license information, I was released with no problems whatsoever.
Whose point are you trying to argue? You just butressed the other side's main fricking point.
Now, had your cop pulled his gun and put three in your chest when you answered yes, would that have been your fault? Too different?
OK. You're asked to step out of the car. Upon exiting, the cop sees your legal, concealed weapon in your waistband. Your hand happens to go towards your waist, and the officer puts 3 in your chest.
However, your situation worked out better, because you didn't have an idiot cop involved. He did his job. He assessed the situation properly.
Our cop did not. What should have resulted in an arrest of a juvenile turned into a 12yo losing his life, because those two cops were idiots.
Did somebody say that the idiot cop, whose own superiors stated he was a fricking retard, was training? Are you fricking kidding me?
Not murder...won't even be any criminal charges.
The officers and the department are liable though...from the person who failed to relay the scenario properly to tweedle Dee and his trainee.

I had this happen to me last week, except it was a 12-14 yo white kid.
Going thru my neighborhood, I see a kid running with a olive green pistol, no orange tip. As I continue to watch him, he stops in his open garage and points pistol right at me in my truck. I continue to drive and circle around and can see him in his back yard thru the fence and he is obviously playing with a gun and it looks like he is taking a magazine out of it.
I go home, go back at 5 when a car is there and knocked on front door. Informed mom what had happened, she says it is an Airsoft pistol. I tell her it seems like a bad idea to be pointing a very realistic weapon at folks. She says she will take care of it. No harm no foul.
I am comfortable around guns. I still think it was a real pistol. I can tell you that if I was a cop, and confronted the kid immediately and he pointed it at me he would have to be shot.
I think what we are missing is the art of deescalating these scenarios. But cops don't have the luxury of driving around, getting a second look, then waiting till Mom comes home to check it out.

This thread is sad. I'll never understand the wanton and spiteful disregard for life in situations such as this. I would much rather discuss why the officers didn't skid to a stop 100 feet from Tamir knowing he was such a " threat" but I guess we can't. Thinking goes out the window when you wear a badge, I assume, when thinking has gone out the window for a perp.

Did you not see the numbers a few pages back from 2015. 900 odd police killings in 2015 and less than 300 were black folk. So your statement is just flat out factually wrong.
so out of the 900 odd police killings.. ~33% of the dead were black people. yet black people make up 12% of the total population

Well, considering blacks made up 28% of arrests in 2012 and 30% of police killings between May 2013 and April 2015, I'd say police killing blacks is not the epidemic you're trying to make it out to be.
If you want to discuss the reasons behind black people being arrested at such a high rate, I'm all ears, but the rate at which they are killed by police is in line with the interactions they seem to have with police.

When people begin to realize that police officers, DAs, and judges are immune to this type of shite; they will reconsider posting this bullshite in a thread.
