Wtf? I was reading something just now and found out this is apparently a thing. I've never done marathons but I did used to run cross country and to the best of my knowledge never saw anything like this. Apparently caused by chaffing. Any OTers suffer from it? You ever seen this happen to anybody?

Yes. Its pretty common. I have to wear bandaid over my nipples on long runs.

Wilt Chamberlain, among others, used Band-aids on their nipples to prevent this problem.

if I don't wear an undershirt on a heavy starched shirt, my nipples can bleed. Or they did once.

Yep, very common. It only takes 1 time to figure out that you never want that to happen again. The post run shower is the worst. I have seen it many times and experienced it once.

I think it happens when your body stops producing enough fluid to dilute the salt in your sweat and your chest basically turns into sandpaper against a shirt.

Andy had it in Michael Scott's Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Rum Race for the Cure; so it has to be a real thing right?

I was going to start exercising as my new years resolution but thanks to this thread I think I'll put it off another year.

It's a thing for long runs. Rub some body glide on, problem fixed.

They sell button band-aids or whatever they were called. I'd used them for all longer runs. Ran and hiked all around the Smokys one year and stayed in a ultra quiet place. Room cleaner knocked and I answered shirtless with the band-aids on, she shite. I got so used to them I forgot I was wearing 'em.

Certain moisture wicking fabrics are coarse enough to cause bleeding on bare skin.
