about this being Constitutional you can bet that it is. these frats are given permission to stay on campus and such. the university has a right to make sure the campus is free of drugs. regular employees are subject to drug testing because they're on campus and i'm betting regular students in dorms are subject to it as well.

frats have no one to blame but themselves. they've tried to act like they have diplomatic immunity or something for so long, like there are no consequences, now they've brought too much attention to themselves.

If they were on probation and they agree to it under terms of probation...I see nothing wrong

pills and blow were a problem in Tuscaloosa 15 yrs ago when I was in school. That problem has probably only gotten worse since then.

Chances of this getting thrown out? 100 percent. Are they testing sororities? Football players?

I think it's a great idea. In fact, everybody should be subject to random drug-tested by the government. For public safety. And for the children. Because they are our future.

FORWARD, bitches !

Drug testing for all forms of welfare recipients was blown up.... If you cant drug test them, what gives them the right to drug test Frat guys?

That was thrown out on political grounds, not Constitutional, wasn't it?

Either way, it was thrown out - that is except for frat boys now.

the reason is pretty important here if you're going to be whining about it. at least whine if you have a reason. doesn't look like there's a reason at all for frats to whine. they did this to themselves.

Is the selective process of only testing fraternities specifically and not students at large really fair?

Yes. Their classification is different from the rest of the student body population due to the various privileges that they "receive" (I do recognize the fact that they pay for such special treatment). Plus, they are direct representatives of the University.

The reason why you could argue that their random drug screening is fair compared to other social clubs and organizations is due to the fact that many Greek functions revolve around formals and parties.

For the record, I think that drug-testing in general is absolute bullshite. It's 2015. Over-the-counter/prescription drug use is far more rampant, and arguably just as dangerous, as any sort of narcotics smuggled across American borders.

I'd take that bet, or at least bet it's thrown out with a good challenge.

Sure they do. And they can do that my any means that does not include an illegal search or seizure of their students or employees.

quote:

regular employees are subject to drug testing because they're on campus

Probable cause is required. There is not random testing of state employees.

quote:

i'm betting regular students in dorms are subject to it as well.

And you would be wrong again.

Agree with this though.
