in TX that would be considered hunting on a public road, and hunting from a moving vehicle both illegal means. and illegal to possess.
Hunting? It might be many things, but hunting isn't one of them.

Yea thats what I was told. Not sure exactly where. Around BASF is what I got. Does that look like a Geismer or Ascension parish patrol car?

With a convoluted, 2-week long hunt story to go along with it.

A buddy of mine hit a good buck on I49 a few years ago and the police wouldn't let him keep it. He left and had another friend go back to atleast retrieve the horns, but the buck was gone. He thinks the cop took it for himself.

pretty standard policy here and in OK/MO to drag any bucks off out of sight to prevent people from stopping on the side of the hwy and causing a traffic hazard to collect illegal antlers.

I pass that area every time when I go hunting in Hale County, AL.
I will be a lot more alert for deer

I live down 69 South....When you head down to your property look to the left by Waffle House....Usually about 5-7 deer feeding under that big Oak tree late in the evening. I saw a deer with a rack the other day, but I don't think it was that one.

In Louisiana all salvageable meat confiscated by LDWF and SO has to be donated to certain documented charities in the state. You CAN KEEP the road kill but you must clean it and take all meat to one of the donation centers. That center will sign your affidavit that it was donated and you can take a copy of that back to the agent of officer that came to the scene so he can record it on the official report. That is the only way you can make it work to keep the horns. You just have to tell the officer what you would like to do. DO NOT ASK "hey can I keep it"! First thing he is going to say in NO and take the animal and donate it anyway. Several here around SWLA. Boy and Girls village. Methodist place for orphans. Abraham's tent in Lake Charles, and a laundry list of Foster parents in the area that can accept it and sign. Get with you sheriffs dept. and the can help. Good Luck
