"One of the things they did admit was altered was the buyout provision. In some sense, it’s vindication.”

Chavis' attorney in the story.

Does it matter? If they altered it after signing, who cares?

It matters when you alter it, then sue for breach of contract pertaining to the part that you altered.

I'd like to know what the original contract said and how LSU changed it.

I think it's high time we alter Alleva's contract.

What exactly in the buyout was altered? It's not clear to me from the article.

Why would they comment during this?

Here are some good reasonable comments that could have been made if true.

The alteration was done with Chavis' verbal agreement to correct an error.

The alteration was not a material change but just corrected a typographical error.

The alteration does not change the fact that the liquidated damages clause is enforceable.

Unfortunately my understanding is that Chavis contends the university unilaterally altered the liquidated damages clause in his 2012 contract which is the meat of the lawsuit. If True that's not a good sign of things to come.

I suppose LSU could make the argument that he coached 2 more seasons under the altered contract. I am not sure what Chavis said about the alterations at the time though. Parties can agree to alter a contract and you can agree through acting on a contract. Not sure how solid an argument that is though.

holy frick everything related to LSU is retarded at the moment.

I can't believe our AD is this imcompetent. How can you seriously think this is right?

Joe Alleva deserved to be fired ASAP. This is ignorance at its finest and the way the university has come off in recent weeks has been horrendous.

Or they could wait to comment until it is over. Like adults...

Takes two to settle. Chavis may be out for blood which would be to expose Alleva and vindicate himself. Notice how Chavis and Miles still seem to be buddies. So if that is the case who is the opposing party?

Based on the rant's absolute understanding of the situation based on this thread, in what sense would it not be vindication for Chavis?

In other words, the rant's understanding may not be accurate or complete.
