I learned of it around 2010, so before that

I was also outraged and had talk with friend who is PE teacher in AZ. He first recalls it around 2006

I'm pretty confident it was Indian Style in 1996 at least.

I always refused to sit indian style. Wast comfortable. Got in trouble a lot for it.

Elementary school pe teacher here.. I first heard of this 3 years ago from a kid that came from another school...quickly corrected him and told him we call it Indian style at our school!

It was definitely Indian style when I was kindergarten through whenever I had to sit Indian style. This was about 1998-2001
