Sobering thought about Eli Manning's Career (assuming he stays healthy)

He will be a first ballot HoF'er. I know, I know...it seems ridiculous to some. But his numbers and Super Bowls over the "mighty" Patriots have him in easily.
If he plays 5 more years at an average rate he will finish with almost 65,000 yards and 400 TDs. Those numbers are near Favre and Marino.
...and he's not really THAT good.

He's a gunslinger like Favre and throws tons of picks. He will still have one more SB win than Peyton

3 pro bowls in over a decade (in today's NFL where half the players skip the game so about 1/3 of the starting QBs end up making the team somehow)
0 all pro teams
But yeah his last name is Manning and he'll compile the stats so he will end up making it in

He'd get in even if his last name was Magee. He has the longevity, stats, and SB's and he's the greatest QB in NY Giants history. That last part is very significant.

Career bulk stats mean jack shite.
What matters is how many times he was considered an elite quarterback over the course of his career.
zero all pro selections.

2x SB MVP in NYC and being a Manning, he's getting in but probably not 1st ballot.

I personally think Eli is criminally underrated. He checks in at number 3 on my top QB's of all-time list. He really should be at number 2, but I downgraded him due to him playing for the cradle of filth known as Ole Miss in college.

2-time Super Bowl MVP.
How many QBs in history can say that?
ETA: 5. I'd say that qualifies as elite.

You think Eli Manning is an elite QB?
He was never elite in ANY season.
IMO, the HOF should be about how you stacked up against your peers, not about how many yards you accumulated throughout your career.
Just for the sake of comparison...

Did Simms get in? Eli deserves to get in. 60,000 yards and 2 Super Bowls. And those 2 wins were/are the thorn in the side of the GOAT (arguable) Brady.

Deserves?
This is my problem with Eli - if you're going to put him in, it should open the door for a plethora of good QBs from his era.
For instance, if Eli is in, Rivers is in, right?
You may cite Rivers lack of playoff success, but I'd take Rivers over Eli in basically every season they've played, so I have a hard time putting Eli in without putting Rivers in.

If they all end up in the Top 5 in passing yard, top 6-7 in career TDs, and win 2 Super Bowls they would deserve to be in also.
Ben Roethlisberger is getting in and his stats aren't as good as Eli's.

Manning also became the first quarterback to throw for 4,900+ yards and win a Super Bowl in the same season. The Giants were the first team with a running game ranked last (32nd) and a defense ranked as low as 27th to win a Super Bowl.
Manning GOAT?

Mediocre numbers for a long time + 2 SBs = HOF QB

Yup Ben and Eli are both Hall of Famers - rivers and Romo and Matt Ryan are not. Playoff success and the Super Bowl's are everything

Incredibly dumb way to judge but I agree that is the main focus of the HOF.

It's a perfect storm compilation of bull shite reasons to make it into the Hall of Fame. Super Bowl wins are a quarterback stat. Good but not great player in a big market. Plays in a period of inflated passing stats.
He shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame. He isn't good enough. At no point in his career has he been among the best at the position.
