Chesta draws for chest of drawers/dresser. She was a white yankee with otherwise normal pronunciations. No clue why she said it like that.

A bohunkus was your butt, but she pronounced buh-hunk-us, as in I'll spank your little bohunkus, but she never did. Sure do miss her.

My Grannie was born in the Garden District and use to exclaim "Well I'll Sewanee". She also would say hello to older black ladies and gents as Hello Auntie and Hello Uncle. She also pronounced it as New Or-lee-ans - but quickly(as I still do today) . She was the most lovable snob I ever met. Gracious and good to every clerk and helper but her ire was reserved for her peers and Dutch Morial.

My other Maw Maw from Pointe Coupee used to call us grandkids "two by four" , pot liquor, and you big foot.

Mine would say let's go sit on the davenport in the parlor. Or your grandfather is sleeping on the chesterfield.
