That team was so much better coached.

Yeah but due to life's cruel, soul-crushing monotony, not football.

I was there. Lsu simply wanted it that particular night. Tennessee had some talent, but outplayed them. A perfect example was the Josh Reed 3rd down catch for a 1st down in the 4th quarter. That was completely ridiculous.

I'm watching this MNF game wondering if Jason Witten still thinks about that night against LSU.

Why? We looked fairly inept on offense most of the game. Gave up big plays and a lot of yards on defense . Made big game winning plays against a Chavis defense. What's different?

I'm watching right now. Just told my brother how much more enjoyable these old teams used to be.

Look at how they used running plays for Mauck on the fly....

as they could do for Harris.

Matt Mauck coming in for relief of an injured Rohan Davey, one of my favorite Tiger QBs of all time. They didn't know what to do with Mauck's scrambles.

The legend of Lulu and Junior was born...

I remember periods of being frustrated with Saban for losing more games than I thought we should lose. The difference is that Saban has evolved and improved as a coach overtime. I think that is why folks tend to revise history and seem to think that the Saban that was here is the same (or similar) to the Saban at Bama. While they share similarities, he is clearly a much better coach now, achieving more consistency.

I do enjoy watching the early 2000's stuff though as it felt, for the first time, that the program was turning a corner and starting to achieve its potential. Ah, good days indeed.

Dear S,
No matter how much you love and miss your ex-coachfriend Saban, he left you for Miami. I know it's hard but you need to move on with your life.
