I grew up in Kenner from what I would consider to be a lower middle class family and had no problems at Jesuit. I'm sorry you were unpopular.

Some were, for sure. However, I could name maybe 10 from my class (yes, those 10 were primarily from uptown). Also, many 14-18 year old kids are pricks.

I'm not a private school fan but Jesuit is unmatched for quality of Education.

I think it's Jesuit also.
From 8th grade thru 12th grade (public schools), my son went to state rally every year. He won state in English twice, and once in Trig/Advanced Math. (You can only go in one subject per year, so he was only allowed to go in Math once.) I know he also placed 2nd and 3rd several times several times in other subjects.
He knew almost all of the other school's best competitors. Brother Martin always did well as did Ben Franklin. At that particular time many of their best students came from public middle schools like Rudolph Matas Elementary / Haynes Middle before attending Brother Martin.
My son took three semesters of Calculus at Tulane during his Junior and Senior years of High School. He thought he would get a Tulane scholarship by setting the curve in three consecutive Calculus classes. The test average was typically 50 and he would score 100+ (bonus questions).
When he got a scholarship to UNO and decided to live in the dorm, his first three roommates were all Jesuit National Merit Semi-Finalists. Every one of them got a 0.0 GPA in their first semester at college. You just can't make this shite up.
From what I gather, Jesuit spends quite a while preparing their students for college acceptance testing. Maybe they prepared their students to do well in the tests, but coddling kids really doesn't prepare them for the real world.

Apparently you can.

And you would know this how?
I am sure some Jesuit students do just fine. I know of three who couldn't cope with college life.

Your son's first three roommates were Jesuit national merit smi-finalists? All three got exactly a 0.0 GPA there first semester?
Yeah, BS.
Btw, I do believe Jesuit is overrated but it's still an excellent school.

Yes. If you don't mind answering, where did you go to school?
The reason I ask it because in Freshman English every student must pass a competency test. After five grammatical errors, you fail.
Read up on there/their usage.

I seriously doubt that three merit scholars would end up at a shitty school like UNO

While that guys story is clearly made up, there is no doubt Jesuit does teach a curriculum that is geared towards test taking.

You are also correct here. Jesuit really isn't that bad. However, whatever high school you graduated from should ask for their diploma back.

You are absolutely right. UNO is a shitty school. After my son got his shitty degree there, he got a shitty degree in Epidemiology from Tulane, did medical research at NIH (he has published research in medical journals), worked at GWU and UC Berkley (mostly government contracts). He was also on a first name basis with C. Everett Koop prior to his death.

Jesuit has typically had more National Merit finalists than any school and it hasn't been close.
Does smart scare you?

More, but probably not per capita. Plus, boys typically score better on standardized testing, so their numbers are a little skewed compared to a co-ed school.
