re: How hard is it to understand, "Miles' offense" isn't the problem. Having a QB is

They don't adjust the don't build confidence they don't put players in best position for success
His quarterbacks aren't comfortable
The plays and system aren't smoothly adapted
They play scared because he's so afraid of a turnover so all we do is chuck it deep on passing plays so if it is intercepted it's like a punt
2008 ruined Miles relying on two freshman inexperienced quarterbacks and he's handcuffed the position and had no confidence of solutions since.. Outside of a senior who transferred and was in the program 3 years

Miles has given Harris plenty of opportunities for the coaches to gain confidence in him and he fails to deliver. His accuracy is terrible and got worse throughout the year. I don't believe that bullshite one bit. To receive confidence and trust you have to start within yourself. Harris is not there yet.
Yep.

I mean it's just incorrect to say he's handcuffed Harris this year. They've committed entire games trying to work on the passing game and zero progress was made. Does that fall on the coaches ultimately? Absolutely. But when do you start to say, you know what, maybe Harris just isn't there yet?

Miles should be able to win without a 23 year old at QB like the rest of America. His failure to develop every QB he recruits is an issue. Mettenberger was really the only one he actually landed and it still took him 3 season to become a solid QB. Either the system sucks or the coaching does.

They threw the ball more in 2008 and 2009 than they did in '10 and '11. Likewise, they threw the ball more in 2012 than 2013.
If you're going to make a dumb argument, at least look a the numbers before doing so

If David Lafleur had come through LSU in the last 5 years or so, he would have come and went without anyone knowing his name.
Why?
Because a TE passing thread involves complex reads.

quote:Is the OP implying we had good offense those two years. We couldn't move the ball on Arky or Georgia? Looked terrible until TM's big punt returns.
10 - Junior Lee/Jefferson (not great offensive year, but 11 win season)
11 - Senior Lee/Jefferson

Keeping Miles was the right thing to do, at least for one more year. He finally has an experienced returning QB, (HB, and WRS) with an offense that should be greatly improved along with a lot of returning starters
Next Year is the Year!!!!

Having a first time starting QB in the SEC rarely works out great. The defenses are too good.
2005: shockley first year SEC championship
2007: first year starter flynn SEC/BCS championship
2008: second year starter tebow SEC/BCS championship
2009: Mcelroy first year starter SEC/BCS championship
2010: cam newton first year starter SEC/BCS championship
2011: AJ mccarron first year starter BCS championship
2012: AJ mccrron second year starter SEC/BCS championship
2013: nick marshall first year starter SEC/BCS appearance, jameis winston first year starter BCS championship
2014: cardale jones Big 10/CFB playoff championship
so you were saying?

This does not have to take carries away from the r So are people who say this conveniently forgetting the Eastern Michigan, South Carolina, Florida games where we clearly threw the ball a ton? I mean Eastern Michigan we threw with so little productivity that didn't they come back within a score in the 3rd? There's been clear instances of them trying to but Harris just wasn't and isn't ready yet.
Difficult for a QB to succeed with 1-2 receiver routes. The scheme just isn't there.

Once again, not all first time starters are not created equally. Almost all of the guys you posted were 3rd or more year players. Winston being an exception in that he was just fantastic that year.
But I don't think simply grabbing the starters from the past SEC / BCS championships tells the whole story. Those were clearly already all great teams.

Great post and you are 100% correct.
Only reason why so many people downvoted and disagree with you is bc they are still crying like a bitch that Les didn't get fired.
If LSU had a qb that actually showed some improvement and potential more times than he doesn't show it, we would all be happy as pigs as slop.
Well most of us that is.
Qbs at LSU for the most part since he's been here are below fricking avg.
Good chance Harris or Jennings wouldn't and couldnt start at vast majority of sec schools.

Inexperience doesn't seem to keep Alabama from putting a new QB in every year and throwing successfully

Miles' philosophy on offense is inherently distrustful of the quarterback position from the get go, so they never get a chance to build that confidence to perform.
I believe a lot of it is this ...along with poor teaching and not committing enough time in practice. What more proof do you need?
J. Lee went from pick 6 machine to having an LSU historic streak of not throwing picks.
Then gets inexplicably benched in 2011-2012 NC game. Don't tell me QB recruits don't wonder what possessed the coach to make a decision to bench an undefeated senior QB IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME?
