Next year? We'll be doing this shite next month. We still have another game to endure.

Anything's possible. However Alleva will have no credibility if Les is still let go after that grandstanding he just did.
Rummy, you're a smart guy, you have to know this is only delaying the inevitable and it will be more of the same shite next year.

Listen to what Alleva said exactly. He said Les will coach the bowl game and handle the recruiting class. I did not hear "Les will be the coach for the 2016 season."
Alleva coming out like that was the best move regardless of whatever is going on behind the scenes. It squashed everything instantly... Until a change happens, or doesn't happen.
It could be over, but it might not be.

I had a blast.
I don't think Dal was 100% wrong.
I think the big money boosters got drunk one night and decided they would change the fate of the LSU program
They should have made sure they wanted to lose millions, over something that can handle itself in a year.
In turn they cost LSU recruits and insured the team they thought they were fixing, is now in worse shape.
Be careful what you wish for..... That phrase played out this week.

That was interesting, wasn't it.

Completely agree.

Les will be the coach next year. They ll find their future coach in waiting like FSU did with Jimbo. Les retires when his contract is up whether he likes it or not, unless he can somehow get back to the NC game before that time.

It ain't over until....you know
Posted on 11/28/15 at 11:19 pm to RummelTiger
I'm sure he will be online in a couple hours with some bullshite.

So Les isn't retiring for another 4 years?

Much like the Saints, I'll pull for LSU but also pick a team each season to cheer for that will actually make the playoffs.
that's pretty pathetic that you wouldn't pull for louisiana teams no matter how bad they are

You're not really Tesla.
Tesla was smart.
Tesla was smart.

It sure sounded like a definitive statement to me. And that's how Les seemed to take it. LSU looks exponentially worse now (if that's even possible) if they try to pull something at this point (and what new coach would willingly want to be cast as a pariah immediately upon entering?).

It's over and he's here another year. Face it.

Only thing about it is, where were these comments in the last week or so, when the peasants were storming the castle with torches and pitchforks?
If anything, I think any realistic chance at getting a big name to come here was lost by the huge shitstorm that erupted. You all think Les sucks; most guys we'd want to get probably think he's performing at a level that should make him safe and respected. Say all you want about "accepting the challenge", but I doubt anyone wants to uproot from a good job to come here, and face the same expectations.
Before you make the Ohio St/John Cooper argument (he couldn't beat Michigan), remember they had to hire a 1AA coach from Youngstown St, and were lucky that he turned out to be the man. Or the Bama/Saban argument; remember he bailed out on the Dolphins and was looking to land anywhere. Yes, if Chip Kelly gets fired we could try to get in a bidding war with him, but he has no connections here (like Saban did in the SEC), and if we wait on that, we really risk getting a nobody instead.

I don't think Les sucks. I've always been known as a Les lover on here.

He's been trying to cover his arse since the announcement over on Coaching Changes.

quote:I was referring to Alleva. Waiting until the season is over is fine, but when the story of Miles being fired is blazing over every local and national news outlet, he could have simply reaffirimed that:
I don't think Les sucks. I've always been known as a Les lover on here.
"Contrary to popular internet rumors, Miles is our head coach and no decision of any sort has been made. We will evaluate the season as a whole afterwards, as we have always stated. We have a tough home game against a conference opponent remaining, I would ask everyone who supports the LSU program to come out and show their support at the game. Please remember, all this unfounded speculation is harmful to the program and institution as a whole, regardless of who is or will be the coach. We pride ourselves on having the greatest atmosphere in the conference and nation, and wish to continue that"
or something of the sort.
