So....nothing and the LSU fanbase running with a comment that means nothing?
Nah man. I know it's difficult to get the perspective without being a fan/living in LA. For years it's been talk, substantiated by the most connected people, that Jimbo is still very fond of LSU. He still keeps in contact with and hunts with old friends from the area.
This has led to people contending he'd be the first call in a situation like we're seeing today. The most connected people who have proven their worth through the years (I'm sure Aubrun has fans like this as well) say there's a good chance. We'll see.

"LSU" might not make a move, but the influential boosters and some BOS folks seem to be maneuvering behind the scenes. I promise you Sexton is talking to them more than he is talking to Joe Alleva. He worked the much more wealthy and much more influential boosters at Texas last season for 3 months. The end result was that Saban got a big raise at a job he was likely never really considering leaving (despite what everyone is saying).
I would like to think LSU wouldn't make a move without a deal with someone else in place. But the reality is that many of the decision makers and/or those calling for Les's head are nothing more than your average irrational rant poster only with the money and influence to make things happen.
We'll see. Recent history is not on LSU's side. The only recent instance I can remember where a highly successful Power conference HC left for another power conference job is when Brett Beilema left Wisc for Arkansas. That hire came almost completely out of nowhere.

The family, divorce,
I've considered this factor - so his kids are going to have to get on a plane to go back and forth for visitation?
I'm not seeing it. And I don't see him getting significantly more from LSU than FSU will be able to match. So, if he's not coming for more money - I don't see him doing it.

He worked that con for years - I heard the $10 million a year a full 2 years before Texas fired Mack Brown. The only wild card in the equation was the AD at Texas at the time. Reportedly, Saban wanted Patterson replaced and have a say in who his boss would be. They balked at that, so he took more money from Bama and stayed put. Does that mean he wasn't serious about taking the Texas job? Maybe. Who knows?

Yea, the only answer im hearing for that is maybe the ex-wife and kids will move here too. Seems strange.

This is the typical coaching board/wishful fanbase thinking fodder.
I am just using my fanbase as personal experience with him as well. He is more connected to Auburn, has family there, coached there, still comes back there, hadnt won a NC yet, wasnt paid nearly what he is paid now, was in actual negotiations with AU, and still decided FSU was worth staying at. Things might change, but this is still a one sided argument and that side is the LSU fanbase, which amounts to mostly rumormongering

I'll be shocked if Miles is fired and we are happy with his replacement honestly.

Yeah, x-wives are usually very accommodating that way.

Well that makes sense. Jimbo is going to have joint custody of his kids, with an x-wife that lives in Tallahassee, but is going to move to Baton Rouge to be closer to his hunting buddies.

Not saying we get Jimbo at all but your example is from 21 years ago. There is literally no one at LSU that has any relation to your example.

I'll be thrilled if we get him but if he wasn't happy why in the hell did he stay that long????

History says otherwise.
This. LSU's BoD/TAF competence isn't to be trusted. To some, LSU has made one good hire and even followed that up with a shitty one-(the anti-Miles crowd).

It is.
Look, I think it would be great if we get JF, and it could very well happen, but the LSU fan base has taken some off the cuff comments and turned it into much more than it actually is.

Why the frick cant you people say "I think..." or "IMO, ..." or "To me this feels like..."??
Yall just have to state stuff as fact. As if you dont know what a fact is. Or is it hubris? No i think its unintelligence and a lack of self awareness.

Usually in searches like this you have those considered "insiders" with sources that are each telling slightly different stories. Some saying one name is the lead candidate. Another saying its a done deal with another name. In the end one may be right, others incorrect, or at times all were off.
This one seems different. Nearly every one who claims sources are telling virtually the same story. It seems as if the general direction has been nailed down. Now could things occur that changes all of it- sure. But as of this afternoon it really appears we have a pretty good feel for the pursuit.
Could everyone be wrong and caught up in sort of a deliberate smokescreen? Sure. Until we know for sure I'll take the original advice and "buckle up" and remain hopeful.

The amount of matter-of-fact posting that goes on during this shite is hilarious.
