How much do you pay per hour for work around your house? I know there are other people here employing Mexicans to do work around their house. The guy I use does great work but $30 per hour cash seems like a lot of money.

What? 30$ an hour? That's operator pay
ETA-And I bet he doesn't even know how to sit on his arse and post on TD.

The only way Id think about paying that much, is if it was some sort of specialized job and he had the tools.
$10-20 depending on how unskilled the work

I had him ripping out sheet rock in the ceiling, taping and floating it. I also need him to change out some electric plug ins and move them up the wall a little bit. I try to do most things that I can but don't want to mess with electric plug ins and I don't know how to do sheet rock finishing.
I've used him in the past, great guy. Back then he was $20 per hour so I called him to fix my leaking roof. He did a great job but I was a little shocked at the total.

My Nicaraguan maid works for $9/hr. Best maid I've ever had.

I pay these fools by the job so they don't lollygag.

Call a drywall company to make all of your repairs and coordinate an electrician to move your sockets. I bet you shut the frick up when you see the real cost.

Might get lucky and find an electrician but not a complete drywall guy. Pay the thirty and just be glad you found someone to do it

Show me an American that wants to and can actually hang Sheetrock and metal studs and I'll hire him.

I got estimates to move 3 outlets higher on the wall (to hide wires from mounting TV) and they were all $425 or higher

Americans are willing to do the work, just not at the price illegals get.
