Anyone here hate flying or get anxious? The whole experience, from the check in to the actual flight has always been miserable to me.

Anyone else dislike flying? What do you do to deal with it?

A small dose of Xanax 1 hour before the flight and once the plane levels out, drink 2 small wines that sell for about $5 each. That bitch could crash and burn and I wouldn't have cared.

First time I was ever on a plane, I was sent on a business trip by myself. I didn't think I would get as nervous as I did once I got to the terminal.

Once I was on the plane, my nerves subsided. The trip back wasn't nearly as nerve racking. I love takeoff and landing.

A lot of my dislike for flying now stems from just how much of a hassle it is.

Typically if you can stand the initial rush of adrenaline (which last for 10-15) minutes then you can handle most anything fearful. That 10-15 minutes might be shear terror but you can fight through it. Once you understand how the mechanisms for your flight or flight response works you can then plan your way to deal with them.

Before you know it you are cured

Flying pretty much sucks. They've made it as uncomfortable as possible if you aren't in first class. At no point do I enjoy being on the plane more than off the plane.

Used to hate flying but now I usually take a small amount of Xanax and drink a couple beers before boarding. Then I just put my headphones in and chill, flight seems to go by in a matter of minutes.

1/2 Klonopin or a Xanax makes its bearable...otherwise I'm a basket case!

Just takeoff and landing. I'm fine with everything else.

Absolutely hate it and terrified. Flew once across the country for the first time last year. Still drive whenever plausible. frick statistics.

Used to sweat and all that. Then went on a trip to Greece and Turkey that had 9 separate flight segments over a 3 week period. Just wore off after all that.

I now also fly about 6 times a year so it just kinda goes away with increased exposure.

Just think about the wasted time that occurs if you drive rather than fly.

Last year I flew to Denver from New Orleans and it took less than 3 hours. I left New Orleans at 8am and was having a beer in Denver by 11am. That same trip would have taken 20+ hours if I would have driven.

I've flown probably twice a year for the last 20 years and I'm still nervous .. It has subsided to the point where I don't pop any pills but it still sucks for me and I just don't get it.. Something changed when I got older that really made the experience a bad one for me..

I'm not afraid to fly. However I'm claustrophobic so that kicks in on occasion when flying. I have to always have a window seat with window shade open. For some reason I don't feel as closed in as long as I can look out the window.

My wife (no pics) has recently fallen victim to anxiety on flights, nothing that needs medical treatment but she gets very uneasy during take-offs and landings.

Told her if we did it will be quick.

I am terrified of flying. I can't handle heights.
I used to be ok with it but I just can't do it anymore.
I know it's irrational but I just can't help it. I miss out on a lot of awesome trips because of this fear.
