I'd be for it because frick Atlanta, also he's a competent defensive Coach. And has experience developing dlineman and linebackers.

Plus, Imagine how funny it would be to beat them at the end of the year at home to ruin their season with Mike Smith on the staff.

Why would anyone melt down?

He's a good coach.

Because he coached the Falcons?

Who cares if he helps us.

I'm going to try to walk a line here and not say too much. I have a long-standing family relationship with Mike Smith. He actually mentored me when I was interested in taking the next step at Linebacker. My opinion of him as a coach and a human being could not be higher.

With that being said, I do not expect him to coach again in the NFL for many reasons that do not belong on a message board. People saying he is a terrible coach have no f-ing clue what they are talking about. If they are naive enough to think he hasn't already turned down DC jobs in the NFL already, they are kidding themselves.

As far as the Saints are concerned, I personally would like to see us take a look at the NCAA for coaching talent.

I only hate one sports team and that's the Falcons.

Mike Smith is no longer a Falcon.

The epic melt would be on the Falcons board if Mike Smith were hired and he turned the Saints D into a formidable unit.

That said, he's a good coach and I would be happy with his hire to try and shore up our D. I would hope any new DC that comes in would get full reign to add his people to the staff

Of course.

He's gonna want his own assistants (I know Vicodin Vitt stays forever), but I'd be glad to have him.

Unless Payton is gone or Allen gets a HC job, i'd put money on Allen being the DC next year.

Just look at the staff. Payton doesn't fire his bros. He isn't demoting Allen back to some position coach or "consultant" spot. That DC job was his months ago.
