Just hear this a lot from defenders of Miles.
I know...its their counter to him not being good with x's and o's. I wasn't saying you say it just that I would be willing to bet its true for a majority of the head coaches out there. They all have done similar things. I would love to hear something contrary...like Saban pushing a kid in a wheelchair into traffic...since he is such an a-hole per all the CLM lovers.

is CLM really any better a man than any of them? Pretty sure he hasn't done anything that really separates him from other coaches.
This could not be further from the truth...
I'm worn down by Les the coach just like a lot of people on the board, but his overall character is one of his strongest attributes.

It is completely asinine for you to pretend that you know about anything that went on behind closed doors regarding Les Miles leaving for Michigan
Not just you, but everyone who talks about it

Not saying that LM is the best we can do, but if we get rid of him, then we will start from scratch. Expect a few rough seasons before any turn around, and that is no guarantee. Ask Florida or USC how new coaching can go. LM may not be great but he's good for a championship run every 4 or so years. Not bad considering LSU's history. Gotta look at the big picture.

well are you going to give me examples or just make a statement that you can't substantiate?

He has done great in recruiting, but not enough to keep up with Saban
Thats a pretty tough task to keep up with the top recruiter in the country. Good luck finding somebody better

This quote was in response to what Miles has done for kids like Sid Ortis. Les has most definitely separated himself from coaches like Nick Saban with acts like this. The countless letters he writes to appreciative fans and the gifts he sends with the help of his staff is really amazing along with the events that he attends. Ask anybody that worked under Saban at LSU, he is a total douche bag. A prick. I can promise you that not all coaches do what Les Miles does.

without being a fan of other teams I have no way of knowing if CLM is any different than other coaches. You have no idea what Sumlin or Freeze may do for people in their community just as their fans probably don't know about what CLM does

And this means he has never done great things for fans or children with illnesses?

Yes he has, like all coaches do. All teams have events for kids, etc... that are required by coaches and athletes to attend. But the work that Miles does outside of his already incredibly lengthy work schedule is pretty amazing and the credit he has received for it is well deserved.

I don't think he was seriously consider Michigan either time, just saying that caused the AD to give him an extension and a raise. That is all.

College football has left Miles behind. Miles is still playing like it is 1995.
Mile has to go.
Miles is so so so loyal t his assistant coaches, but NOT loyal to the fans of LSU

Brother, I have to think though that a search committee would do the hiring.
Alleva is just the bean counter who will make sure the #s line up.

I'm so riding the fence here.
We bemoan the lack of loyalty in today's world, overall, but especially in sports. We're always ready to respond angrily to recruits leaving early, coaches leaving for greener pastures, NFL or pro players being free agents.
UNTIL we have a guy like Les Miles who is loyal to his friends. Bum Phillips was the same way, and got run out of New Orleans on a rail, because he was loyal to Earl Campbell. Once they don't win, we want them gone.
And, look, I'm in the same position this morning, despite all Coach Miles great qualities, and ALL the wins he's put up as a head coach, our kids didn't come to play, or were not up to the task against bigger, more focused competition. So where is the fault? It lies all over, CLM, Steele, still using a Chavis-style, light defensive line despite the fact that he's not Chavis or running Chavis' defense.
The OLine? Where the hell are they? Some of it is preparation. How the HELL can a guy like Vadal Alexander have two shite-show games in a row, and yet, still be considered a first-round draft pick?
WHY is it that we are able to consistently recruit the best talent in college football, then lose the games that really matter? And after that, these guys that can't bring it in games like these last two, will go on to have success at the highest level?

Whoever they get, would like to see Frank Wilson and Ed Orgeron retained.
Agree 100%

I think Mullen, Freeze and Billema could all do better here.
I would take Bert of the three (most LSU fans laugh at this), then Mullen.

Not sold on Sumlin or Malzahn.
I would stick with Les over these two.

Something is going on with the team, they barely ran out of the tunnel, the punting and kicking stinks, we can't tackle on special teams or block, our secondary is bad, and he Dline doesn't cover the middle, exhibit A ... Arky Rb up the middle 85 yards, our running backs can't catch, rb Williams., it's gonna be a tough next 2 games.

The OP is missing a lot. It's easy to give reasons and say replace the coach. For example, if we fire Miles and he goes to Georgia, remember, Les has relationships with all our in state High School programs. Trust me, from a business stand point, Georgia would pounce on Les Miles. So would many other programs around the country. Remember how easy Saban has recruited in Louisiana after leaving LSU?
There's not a head coach available who can do an overall better job than Les Miles has done. Too many of our fans want a coaching change without thinking it all thru. Our coaching staff can't play the game. Our players have to make the plays. Unfortunately, Alabama is in our division. And we can beat Alabama.
