Wanted white Quartz, until I got a sample and tested w/mustard, ketchup, and blue food dye. No way, stained, stained, stained. Now I'm checking into granite and don't like the patterns, to me most of it looks like dog vomit. I'm thinking about a black now, but afraid to see the smears and streaks.
I have a brushed aluminum backsplash that I want to use.

Any advice or input?

Looks like dog vomit?

You want something that absolutely won't smear, streak, stain, etch, or scratch and something that doesn't look like dog vomit?

I've got nothing.

I have put quartzite in two kitchens and found it almost unstainable. That would be my recommendation.

I have a white quartzite in my new house and in 3 months have not noticed a problem with staining. Not even red wine.

The stuff is practically non porous and very resistant to stains.

Maybe you should go with Stainless Steel or Copper, won't stain but they will streak and smudge.

Go to a place that specializes in stone and look at whole slabs. Some of those Slabs of granite are true works of art. Don't go to Lowes and think that's it. I have been in warehouses full of Granite slabs and it is amazing the different patterns from all over the world that are available. You are right about the black showing streaks.

Weird... I have quartz and it is practically impervious to stains. I did spill food coloring on it before and thought "oh crap", but it came off with 409.

Amen. Why so many people put this ugly shite in their house is beyond me.

What about recycled glass? I've been considering something like this:

We're definitely doing butch block on the island but haven't decided yet on the rest. It will not be granite for sure though

I've had Silestone quartz for about 3 years and nothing. I even have little chaps that love to leave puddles of fruit juices on it.

In laws have black and the smears aren't that bad but if you're going with brushed aluminum is it coated?
