After halftime or even after the first couple of possessions (when it seemed obvious) would it have been realistic to go strictly passing only? Did anyone watch the Patriots Jets game a couple of weeks ago... Jets D front 7 outmatched the pats and look at what the offense did in terms of stats

Could we have won in this fashion if Harris stepped up and executed?

We passed a lot more after the first few possessions. The FG drive in the first half had several passes.

The one bad and ill-advised pass by Harris starting the 3rd Quarter must have killed any desire by Cam and Les to open it up. I'm thinking too that Les still had faith with a tight score that LF would break a long one someway/somehow. He almost got his wish with the Bama turnover followed by the good field position - the fact that Bama converted at least 2 big 3rd and longs ate up the remaining 9 minutes of the 4th Quarter - hard to run any plays when your defense is worn out and can't get off the field. I give credit to our D for at least trying to keep us in the game - I thought the final nail in the coffin was the well-called play by Kiffin of the rub/screen play on 3rd and 15+ deep in Bama territory. That conversion essentially broke our back and any chance of getting the ball back. It's probable that Barris would've been slinging it if we'd had another chance on offense.

True, but it's frustrating to watch teams be able to dink and dunk (Eastern Michigan or Western Kentucky for example) with 5-15 yard routes hitting the TE, WR, and RBs all day while LSU seems to only run go routes with our WRs. LF should have had 10-12 touches just from passes.

no...there are under routes

Harris just throws the go-route because normally its is 1 on 1 with no safety help, which is the right throw to make

I don't think we recruit players that are smart enough to learn too many plays or to switch from scheme to scheme or to allow for a secret playbook. It also hurts us in that these players are likily to want to get the hell out of college as soon as possible.

My point is we attacked their strength. Which always seem to be what Les does

I honestly would love to know what the coaches discuss during "gameplanning" meetings?? Honest question.

Do they not discuss how Bama's front 7 is legit and we may struggle to pound it??? Honestly, doesn't that come up in their conversations???

Truly it seems to me that there is NO unique gameplanning for Bama. We just do what we do, and if Bama stops it, well, we just keep doing it. The "gameplanning" meetings take all of 5 minutes.

I've never understood how coaches at this level can allow that to occur. It just defies all logic, and that's what frustrates me the most. Not losing (that happens sometimes), it's HOW we lose that gets to me.

the score was 13-10 at halftime so it is plausible that lm decided we could win the game with no major halftime adjustments needed. he saw it as last year's game . a tight game to be decided by turnovers. the turnover by harris was critical but not a game changer.

you can't just look at the score at halftime and say we were in the game. You have to look at what was actually happening on the field.

In the first half, we were outgained 220-153. Time of possession was 18:18 - 11:42. Half our yards were from two plays (long TD pass and long pass from our goal line to Dural). Excluding those two plays, we ran 23 plays and gained 76 yards. We rushed 15 times for 37 yards.

We couldn't control the LOS. We were very lucky to be down 3 at half.

If you can't see all of that and the definite need to make adjustments at halftime, then I just don't know what to say.

Being honest, if after halftime, we would have stayed in the shotgun and play faked to LF and then went streaks or every once in a while gave it to LF it wouldn't have bothered me one bit. BH has Dural and Dupre and he throws a nice long ball, they are play makers, it would have been more effective than running right at them. JMT
