According to Peterson, this -- his ninth season in the NFL -- could have been his 12th, if he'd had his way.

Amid recent whispers about LSU sophomore running back Leonard Fournette's Heisman season, ineligible draft status and comparisons to Peterson, the Vikings running back suggested that Fournette should be able to enter the draft as a sophomore, because, well, Peterson could have done it as a senior in high school.

"Not to sound cocky or anything, or confident," Peterson told the media Monday, "but yeah, I do feel like I could have came out my senior year of high school and played in the NFL.

"People were like 'well, physically you just weren't ready.' I came in my freshman year and I was up for the Heisman, had a pretty good season, was the leading rusher."

True, but he's in the like 1% of high school recruits who could actually do it.

He's right. I remember watching one of his games his senior year and he was so much bigger than everybody else. They just turned around and handed it to him up the middle most plays and he got at least 7 or 8 each time.

You can't change the rules because 1 player every 10 years is able to go high school to nfl. It is so rare that a player is that physically ready coming of high school.

He'd also have 3 more years of taking NFL hits and probably be retired by now

Fournette may be ready for the NFL now

But he wasn't ready last year and certainly not out of high school. I can't see AP ready out of high school either.

How many players can we realistically even discuss as ready to play in the NFL out of high school? Maybe 5 in the history of the NFL?

Not a chance... You know how much faster the NFL is than college, and how much faster college is than high school...

Dude is full of himself... He wouldn't have been prepared for what would have hit him....
