I know we have been very injured lately, but I was hoping with Jrue playing last night that we would have picked up the pace. It seems like we haven't been shooting until there is about 5 seconds left on the shot clock.
Where the hell is this fast paced offense that we were hearing about all off season and saw in preseason? It looks like the classic Monty offense but instead of shitty drawn up plays, we are just playing a slow iso offense.
We really need Reke back. His natural tendency is to run and drive and dish if necessary. Hopefully we can get some practice in before Saturday and Coach Alv can address this issue.

BTW Aminu looked fricking sick last night!

Our fans always seek a scapegoat and can't see that a continuously fricked up roster should be the target.

Well we did play Golden State our first game so that number is very skewed. Watching the games, we do not run up the floor like the old Suns did. We do not have a fast break offense like we did in preseason.

Oh, they've picked up the pace, they just lost their efficiency in the process. Last season they were 27th in pace with 93.7 possessions per game, so far this year they're 10th with 103.91 possessions per game.

Playing your former team effect, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's a solid starter by the end of his contract. It's just hard for teams to wait that long on players to develop, and honestly he might have needed to move on to get better. I'm sure playing for Carlisle last year didn't hurt him.

I don't think it is. The advanced box score puts the pace for last night at 102.54, not very far off from the average 2 games in and well above last season's average. LINK /

Our pace has improved a great deal but we keep missing open shots at the beginning of the clock so I think we saw some changes made to work on AD getting shots out of pick and pop situations.

Also, with regards to pace, the plodding Monty pace seemed to create better offensive efficiency. This fast pace seems to be harming defensive efficiency, while also creating extra possessions (higher pace) for the opponent. God, I hope it gets better.

Think our offense has been very fast-paced. Can recall plenty of shots very early in the shot clock.

Past that, drawing sweeping conclusions from 2 games with .5 Jrue, no Tyreke, no Asik, no QPon, and no Cole seems hasty. The first 1.5 games were an absolute train wreck, but the defense started to figure things out in the 2nd half vs. Portland and the offense showed some signs of life as well. 2.4% of our season is over.

Ish can get wherever he wants and is a solid passer, but he's not really a threat to score and other teams know it (see career percentages). Dante is unlikely to take a shot early in the shot clock, so creating an opp for him early is usually wasted. Kendrick Perkins' efficiency has been nothing short of a miracle, but screening is all he offers.

Despite all the things listed above that detract from pace, we've still managed to squeeze out a lot of possessions in two games. The pace is there.

Yeah. Its just hard to run pick and pops with Ish and Nate Robinson. Teams will ignore them to hound Davis. Can't do that with Holiday or Evans with the ball.

Pace has been fast.

The problem is they aren't making shots, and they aren't rebounding to get 2nd chance opportunities.

The problem with our offense is that I don't think we have the shooters on the perimeter nor do we have good passing guards that's needed to fuel it.

Golden State has snipers that will make you pay if you try to play their game and they are very good at passing the ball similar to the Spurs.

As a team, I don't think we have to pieces in place right now for Gentry's offense. What's been more depressing to me is how pitiful we've looked on the defensive side of the floor.

Which should even out. I haven't looked at the shot chart deeply, but Nylon Calculus's expected FG% would be a place to check out if this is bad luck or bad design.

Fair. I just wonder about floor balance. With so many new faces and a new scheme, they just might not trust crashing the glass right now.

Anderson is the only player I've noticed regularly fighting for rebounds. Judging by the on/off rebounding numbers it looks like Ryno/AD/Cunningham have the most impact. LINK Jrue and Ish have had a positive impact too, but I'll chalk that up to playing a decent amount of their minutes with at least 2 of those 3. Everyone else is bringing the rebounding numbers down.
