Who else is starting to get that itch for duck season?

Just brought up a huge trailer load of fence boards and pallets for duck blinds up to Arkansas last weekend. Will be our first year being able to hunt up there, and it hit me when we were dropping off the materials that duck season is only a few weeks away and started to get that antsy feeling.
Who else is pumped to start shooting some birds this year?

I'm starting to get an itch in my pants, FWIW

The 7 inches of rain I got from Sat through Monday really got the wheels in motion (We don't have wells/pumps). It's pretty much all I can think about...

<---- This guy. 5 days ago we were wringing our hands wondering how many thousands of dollars we were going to have to burn in diesel just to have enough water to float a decoy. We would have pumped for a week just to fill the bigass cavernous cracks in the gumbo. Now we're having to drop a couple boards to keep the blind from going under. And it was free!!

Supposed to get another 3-5 inches across North Louisiana and South Arkansas this weekend. Really picked a good time to start raining.

Right in between west memphis and jonesboro. It's called Tyronza, and also may have a chance to hunt in Harrisburg, which i hear is 2nd to Stuttgart.

Isn't there an unwritten rule that you have to buy a new stick of face paint before each hunt?

I've been on many places in the past with wells and it's always a delicate balance of what's really best.
On one hand you saved a bunch of money, on the other hand, every little low spot now has water giving the birds more places to go.

From experience it is expensive to pump anything without at least waiting to catch some kind of rain. Also the hunting is better when there is at least some water around to hold birds. Dry years can be really good for a few who have water but you have to carefully manage pressure when there isn't anywhere else to go. Marsh hunters probably won't be happy about all the rain from last week into the opener.

I get the itch every year, but I can only refinance my house to go duck hunting so many times.

Each year when we make the trek to go brushing, driving past this sign...
followed by walking through these doors...
gets me in the mood. heck, even the dogs start getting antsy once we start driving past the rice
