You think they are going to go out and pay for a power pitcher with Appel and Vasquez waiting in the wings?
not sure how they get one, but they need one.
Mark Appel waiting in the wings? really?

I'll meet you in the middle and agree with you that he's a solid 3. Not a 4.

The whole Carter/Gattis thing is so interesting. Will they keep both, one or none? Will they try to make Gattis more valuable again as an option at catcher? I cannot even begin to guess what the front office will do there.

I agree with you that Jabroni isn't someone to rely on as a 2. As a 3 I think he fits well with us. The maturation of LMJ is also a huge factor. If he can learn to settle down earlier in games his potential is very high. I'm meh on Fiers. Is VV ready to take the next step to becoming an every 5th day guy? Lots of questions that will be answered next year.
I agree a big ticket outfielder would be a huge addition. I'm also not very good at estimating what kind of contracts guys like Heyward, Upton, Cespedes and the like will get this offseason. Is Crane ready to drop BIG dollars on a FA?
Bullpen is another major priority

i think if you have Dallas, a legit 2, McCullers(who flashes ace stuff), then Mchugh, you're really going to be formidable in that division

Carter is gone. We are stuck with Gatti unless someone will take him in a trade but I hope he's gone.

Haven't read any posts yet so sorry if I repeat anything someone has said
Great season. Will never take for granted having a team worth watching every night through mid October after the last 5 years.
There is no reason not to be extremely optimistic about the future, with the big 4 (Correa, DK, Springer, Altuve) seemingly not going anywhere anytime soon.
I'm pretty confident we would be playing for a few more weeks if we had traded for a pitcher like Kazmir was the first half of the season, but I'm still glad we made moves at the deadline to try and win this year.
I'm stoked to see what Luhnow and company do this offseason. A few things I'd like to see:
-a legit closer where we can put Gregerson in a set up role. As well as another bullpen arm or 2, preferrebly one that can throw heat. Interested to see what our plans for Velasquez and Feliz are moving forward
-A few months ago I was pretty confident we'd be signing an ace to a big contract, but not so sure now. Feel like McCullers may change that. Definitely want to atleast sign a middle of the rotation guy though. Jordan Zimmerman is pretty intriguing as one of the bigger names. Feel like Cubs Yankees Red Sox and Angels will be hard to beat for Price and Cueto. Keuchel, Free Agent, Lance, McHugh, Fiers/Feldman/Velasquez/Appel is a pretty solid rotation
-Would give anything to sign a starting catcher worth a damn but have no expectation that will happen
-Explore trading Lowrie and/or Valbuena and either give Tony Kemp a shot at utility man or sign one
-Wouldn't mind getting rid of Gattis or Carter. In a perfect world AJ and White can be 1st and DH.
-Magically turn Bregman into a catcher
Have many more thoughts but will let the season die down before getting into more discussions about the future
hell of a season

Meant to say Velasquez, always do that so I just say Vinny V.
I haven't given up hope on Appel just yet. Terrible FIP and WHIP for a prospect so highly regarded, but willing to give him another year to develop, and I'm betting Ludlow will probably stick with what we have for 2016 (possibly including Kazmir, but I guess this hinges on him).
It's obviously uncertain with this front office and ownership since this is uncharted territory for them, but we are going to have some big paydays coming up pretty soon.

I've forgotten who's available in FA this year aside from the really big names, but aside from bullpen help (either by signing or trade) I would like to see a solid, reliable veteran bat added for sure. Could be in the OF, 1B or 3B.
We don't need to spend big on a SP and I hope we don't, would be fine with a mid/back rotation guy though.
It was an awesome year with you baws and I cannot wait for the future of this team. Disappointing as frick tonight but I have a feeling they will remember this all year next year

I hope the future is as good or better than this year. We have a good core but our organization needs to prove they will spend to build a championship team. Get 9 ML hitters and some guys in the bullpen who muss bats.

They have prospects they appear to rate very high on the doorstep. They will probably give them a chance at the rotation and corner infield spots. I just don't think they will bite on the free agency prices to come for TOR pitchers. I wonder what Zimmerman will cost.
If they get a closer and OF combo who end up costing over $30 million/year together as expected, it's unlikely they will throw too much more cash around.

They will make a big trade with all those prospect but I'm hoping they don't give up too much.

If they make a splashy move this offseason I think it will be via trade rather than signing someone like Price to a long term deal

They almost have too. Signing someone will block another minor league player that we will lose in the rule 5 draft. You have to try to get something back from those guys. I just hope we keep our big peices in place.

Here we go.
I dont think they have to go out and spend massive amounts of money on a big name. I think it's more important to go ahead and start working on extensions on Kuechel, Springer, and McHugh. Start putting money to the side to drop $200M for Correa down the line. It's coming.
Posted on 10/14/15 at 10:43 pm to Prominentwon
It costs money to field a team of 25 legit championship caliber players.

Too early in the offseason to get into what is spent and not spent with you.
