This is dumb. EPA has already approved all of the stipulations associated with SCR after treatment.

but GM is getting into the diesel market with the 2016 Colorado
It is odd that they have been doing it for years, but only got caught shortly after Chevy started selling the Cruze diesel....(yes, they have been out since 2014...still).

I'd love the V10 TDI Toureg, but they don't make them anymore as far as I know.
I've received one letter from VW acknowledging the issue, but no solutions. I know there is a deal to get 2k additional on your trade in right now of it is an affected TDI. Which in the end will be about what you get out of it. But I'm not getting another VW, so that's useless.

Yea the only reason I'd want one would be if it was a new diesel.
Mine is getting close to end of warranty

Went shopping in their lot this past weekend. Nice vehicles and we may both be in one before the end of the year.

China and India DGAF about emissions. What little amount we're decreasing it by, the rest of the world is increasing it 9000x faster

TDI = They're Damn Innovative
I thought so too.....it turns out that they didn't actually create a clean diesel and were cheating this whole time.

The government shouldn't be telling the car manufacturers anything about building cars. It's amazing that so few equate the overbearing regulation of the auto industry with the outrageous cost of vehicles.

I wonder if they'd let you use the 2k to trade in for a used, non-VW vehicle on their lot?

VW's competitors have either introduced diesels with elaborate, expensive emissions equipment to meet standards or they've opted not to sell a diesels here at all.
That's the bigger injustice here....a significant portion of VW's business in the US was based on a cheat that they used to gain a competitive edge. BMW, Chevrolet, and Toyota have been (as far as we know) playing by the rules.
I imagine most of the customers won't be racing to the dealer to get the recall work complete, as the fix will likely involve equipment that will negatively impact performance, fuel efficiency, and trunk space.

VW is just the New England Patriots of the automotive world. Don't hate them 'cause you ain't them.

Yeah the Colorado diesel will have a whopping 180 HP! Wow.....
I know I know it's about torque but seems pretty underwhelming considering the premium you'll pay for the engine over a V6 & marginally better MPG.
I really like the Tourege TDI in Bronze but its very expensive & I'm sure the long term upkeep is atrocious on a VW.

I still don't understand how making cars get lower fuel economy to get less emissions works.
