Anybody ever had any luck calling Sirius XM and threatening to cancel?

Just got my auto renewal notice in for next month and it's $409 for a two year subscription
That's frickin ridiculous so I'm about to call and tell them I'm canceling to see if they will offer me a deal to stay if not I'm canceling
Anyone ever tried this before with them?

yes. works great. I did it 4 or 5 times. Eventually I cancelled it which took 4 phone calls and a nasty tweet.

Works every single time. You shouldn't be paying more than about $90 a year

I used to do it every year when it came time to renew and they would always give me free 6 months (half off)
but I actually cancelled like 2 years ago because I don't spend as much time in my truck as I used to

I tried to deal with them recently. They wouldn't budge on subscription prices, but tried to deal with me by offering free hard ware, i.e. a home radio unit and a add-on receiver for another vehicle (which would mean an additional subscription - WTF?).
They seem to be playing the supply and demand theory very well over the last year or so.

Most OTers do this every month and XM actually pays them now

Yes, just did it today.

do it every year. I pay about $100 per year.

I pay $50 a year. Call and tell them their service isn't worth what they charge and that you'll pay $25 for 6 months and no more or you will cancel

If you cancel you will get weekly mail and bi-weekly phone calls begging you to come back, each one offering a lower price than the previous. This will go on for years.
I'm convinced that if you hold out long enough they will pay you money and suck your dick if you renew.

I tried and failed. Told them they were charging twice a month what Netflix was charging and that if they didn't come off their price I was walking. Bastard held firm now I have to listen to local sports radio.

You don't need to threaten to cancel, csll and tell them your buddy just got 6 months for 25 bucks and you'd like the same...you don't want autorenewal

They tried to cancel my lifetime because I missed a 13$ payment for internet service. Took two days of bitching for them to turn it back on. Almost got me on that one.

I've been on the 5 months for $20 cycle for going on 2 years. Each time it comes up to auto renew I call to cancel and say it costs too much and that I would stay with the service if I could get another deal like I just had. Doesn't work every time but if you call back you'll find the right person who will hook you up.
It used to be 6 months for $25 but they dropped that about a year back.

Every single year for about 3 years now. Haven't paid more than $90 for a year subscription.

5 months of $27. Just ask when the renewal date is and calendar it to call them and cancel.

It's such a fricking tedious charade they play.
