Kids will be kids...,,I agree
Doesn't excuse when grown adults, who know better do it.
Point is have some compassion that's all. It's very poor taste to make fun of someone who can't always even mentally grasp that they are being made fun of.

When a lot of us were growing up, retarded was the term.
My Grandmother says colored. She doesn't mean anything by it. You can't explain to her why it's offensive. Why is colored 'bad' and black 'good'? Seems to me that the activists attach the stigma themselves, by railing against it.

There's a kid JUST like this in my neighborhood.. I think he's slightly autistic but dudes a beast on the lawnmower
ETA: and to touch on the topic at hand now, my only input is that sometimes I use the word 'retard' or 'retarded' and will sometimes think of my godchild who has Down syndrome.. But he's neither a 'retard' nor 'retarded' in my opinion so the word really don't bother me

While everyone saying you are an a-hole may be true, I would like to commend you for staying around and tending to the thread you started. I did notice you bailed from the last 2-3 pages though. Was that to go pull your wife off of the kid? (Sorry, that was obligatory at this point.)
I don't think your wife is sleeping with him. Just the occasional handie and a mouth hug once a week. She feels obligated since you have beat him out of cash.
The fact that his unit is 1.4 of yours is just a bonus for her kind heart.
Enjoy your yard.

It didn't. I sounded like typical subtle brags in the OT with you throwing out specifics about your living situation etc. Then you throw in a retard to make you seem like a good guy.
Frick you, and frick me for reading it.

You are such an uptight frick about your yard that you schedule when it rains? Interesting

You are here for the sole purpose of reading posts.
I see who the retarded one really is.

I was thinking a bit about this. How many people do you think actually haggle with the kid? He probably takes some pride in the fact that he negotiated with you on a price, rather than you simply conceding to pay whatever he asked because he is "special". You treated him like he didn't have a disability.
I agree with some posters on here that you might consider paying him more (you can renegotiate the price, or simply give him a performance bonus at the end of the season) because of the exceptional work he has done. You can say, "I appreciate the job you did on my yard this year, and I want to recognize your effort with a tip."
Anyway...good story...I expected so much less from you.
