City/area with most irrational self-pride or self-hate

Alright OT, a lot of of us have lived and done business in many different cities. Whatcha got for areas that love themselves more than they should or hate themselves for no apparent reason?
My votes:
Most Irrational Self-Pride: (Tie) St. Louis and small-town Texas: For STL, frick provel cheese, frick the Cardinals (there's a reason why you're the only city where MLB>NFL in a market that has both), and if you're 30 years old I don't care where you went to high school. For rural TX, explain exactly how is your life different than rural every other state?
Most Irrational Self-Hate: (tie) Baton Rouge and Kittery, ME. Baton Rouge, you are not hell on earth, and should generally view proximity to NOLA as an asset and not a curse. Kittery, you complain about not having the bars that Portsmouth, NH does, but it's not that hard to stumble across the bridge - I've done it plenty of times, and you live in New England where cities are 45 minutes apart. That 45 minute to drive to Boston is the same 45 minute drive that people in the suburbs of Chicago have to take to go downtown.

Most Irrational Self-Pride: Shreveport / Bossier
Most Irrational Self-Hate: Detroit. Top 10 all-time American city with amazing architecture and assets that will be cool again in our lifetimes.

New Jersey is pretty terrible, although it isn't a city.

Not Atlanta itself but the fricking Atlanta suburbs cities are annoying as frick. Peach tree city, Alpharetta, Marietta, your the fricking problem. You want to commute making everyone's life miserable for 4 hours a day, frick you.

You sure about that? I'm not sure another industry like the automobile industry will reoccur again within the U.S. What will rejuvenate Detroit to that level of prosperity and affluence again? It will take a lot to make it the beacon of the middle class dream it once was...

Dallas is a great quality of life city, but Dallas people also think that Paris is envious of Dallas, so they do fall into the delusion category

Baton Rouge is under-appreciated...but I think attitudes are changing there. There are still too many uber-protestant bible thumpers in town that hate the idea of a black person existing or an LSU student having a good time. Frankly, those types are hard on the melting pot dynamic in the capital city and thankfully are much less prevalent today. I like to see younger people carving out a life and enjoying themselves there. I think more people are starting to recognize the potential there.
I think Philadelphia people are the opposite. They tend to be jerks. That city is very unappealing as a place to live relative to its peers. It's not a bad place, but the people there and their attitude are real turn off. It's not Chicago or New York but I don't think they realize that.

I've lived in both... Well... Portsmouth for my month or so and BR for about ten years. But anyway, wrong on both accounts, if you just travel ten or fifteen minutes north you will travel to Kennebunk, a town know for being the gateway to Kennebunkport... Jesus, even York feels bad for them. But people from lottery are assholes
