And to be clear, I'm not a conspiracy theorist. It's possible that some officials let their own bias interfere with their game calling. It is a fact that the SEC has sorry officials.

LSU seems to get the brunt of it for whatever reason.

Yes! Players need to emulate rantards, who are so disciplined as a rule.

This.

If you look hard enough, there is usually a penalty call that can be made on every single play in any game for any team. The refs determine if they're going to let it be a physical game, or if they're going to call it by the book. That's just part of the game.

But if they're going to have an eagle eye, and call it by the book. Then call it by the book on BOTH teams. Don't go over one team with a fine tooth comb, and then be staring at the sky when the other team does the exact same things.

I can agree that lsu has had their fair share of penalties under miles tenure. But Ritter and his "crew" were nit picking us Saturday night.

Edited bc autocorrect hates me.

This 'Miles tenure' undisciplined myth is pure BS.

Look up the stats and compare to other P5 and SEC teams. LSU will be right in the middle somewhere. But if there is a way to look up bad/stupid and completely uncalled for and lopsided officiating going against you LSU would be safely at the top of the list.

You can make all the excuses you want, but LSU has been dismal in penalty yards under Miles. However, it has not hurt our success. Our best years were some of our statistically worst years. Here are our national ranking in penalty yards:

2005 - 99, 11-2
2006 - 69, 11-2
2007 - 97, 12-2 NC
2008 - 61, 8-5
2009 - 40, 9-4
2010 - 42, 11-2
2011 - 58, 13-1
2012 - 86, 10-3
2013 - 87, 10-3
2014 - 38, 8-5

Ritter hates LSU. I'm pretty sure that his kid(s) went to Bama.

Dude, our defensive linemen are chasing QBs out of bounds with their helmets off.

But go ahead...believe that LSU committed penalties ONLY because of an officiating crew that has a personal ax to grind against LSU.

Nobody has been able to explain to me yet how making an SEC crew deliberately keep Syracuse in the ball game benefits the conference.

Or how taking an 87 yard run away from Leonard Fournette and preventing him from lapping the field in the Heisman race is part of SEC Directive #724 to screw LSU. Or maybe you think the commissioner hates LSU so bad that he wants Trevone Boykin to win the award.

I was thinking the same thing. That Fournette guy could be a pretty good player if he would only shave that beard.

He has to have to beard to create wind drag to slow him down, he like to give defensive backs a fighting chance.

You could argue that Florida, Texas and Texas Tech got shittier calls yesterday, and two of those teams lost.

Officiating is bad all around in college football.

OK - I get it - no one likes the penalties. But if this is the "bitch point" rather than bad QB play, time management, or if the band plays 'neck' -- then I figure all is good. Just wouldn't be LSU football without something to bitch about -- and this is from a 66 year old, 1972 grad who has been to more games then I can remember.

Tin foil hat theory:
Ritter and crew have money on the spread and need Cuse to cover the spread to make bank.
(Not my theory, I'm not even sure what the spread was)

Tin foil hat theory #2:
Alabama lost a game, Sec officials are on the payroll and needs the other west powerhouses to have a loss to give Bama a chance at the SEC title shot.

Again not my theories, just brain storming bc you asked

Not to sit here and bitch about the refs, but was there a logical reason that a flag wasn't thrown when Syracuse ran the fake fg and their guy basically throat punched Jamal Adams on the sideline in celebration?

Because watch the video in the link

It was a fake field goal. Things are chaotic and everybody is out of position.

Watch the video. The referee is marking the line of scrimmage and the punch happens behind him or to the side, whichever you prefer. And look how long it takes for another official to run in there and break things up.

Nobody saw it. Nothing to see here. Move along.

I know. It's amazing how the line judge forshadowed an 87 yard touchdown the one time he threw the flag at the snap before Leonard Fournette even got the football!

Joe McCarthy, after managing the Yankees to several world series wins, became the manager of the Boston Red Sox. He insisted his players wear coats and ties when out of uniform on the road.

Ted Williams hated ties and refused to wear one.

McCarthy, in his first team meeting, showed up without a tie.

"If I can't get along with a .400 hitter, I'm not much of a manager," he said.

Curley Hallman ordered players to remove ear rings and other jewelry. Didn't do much good.

All that said, we DO need to clean up these penalties, but a superficial response like removing facial hair is useless.

It was not intentional. What penalty would you have called?

I don't believe many conspiracy theories. But I do believe a general bias exists towards Alabama. When the officiating crews are there and have such strong ties to that school, I think a general bias exists. From what I recall, Saban was one of the most penalized coaches while at LSU and one of the least at Bama. I don't have numbers. I don't think he became more disciplined...but that team seems to get a distinct advantage, whether that's intentional or not.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Yes, they need to be more disciplined, but the facial hair and hair styles have zero to do with it.
