Guy wrote a letter to the editor a few years ago complaining that Kroger needed to ensure the scooters stayed charged. He said he got back in the meat/dairy area amidst the coolers and his battery ran out. He was stranded and almost froze to death.

Every time I see one I think of that and laugh.

I loathe those things. If a person has health problems that prevents them from standing or walking then I'm fairly certain that they own one of these vehicles and thus don't need to borrow Walmarts and would park in the handicapped spot. In my experience neither is true of the common borrower.

I've seen these people several times walk up to the entrance of the store and then use the scooter and/or walk out of the store pushing their full basket. These people are ALWAYS overweight by a metric shite-ton. It amazes me that the correlation is lost upon them.

Have you seen the size of super markets these days? Simply walking the aisles to get all your food can be a workout. Why walk and get sweaty when they provide scooters?

Yep, the exercise would do them some good. Besides they should have thought about not being able to do simple tasks like buying groceries before they chose to smoke.

Yes, these are out of control some old bag was on one in the publix this morning with an oxygen tank that made a deer bleet every ten seconds... I missed getting my coffee creamer cause the old bags distraction.

I think Handicap people need to have certain times they can shop otherwise the spots are open to the public!

What? Those people aren't tooling around on those scooters with a pulmonary embolism. Sitting on their arse all the time though, does raise their risk for a pulmonary embolism.

Some of you all are too soft. Fine, people over 80 can use them too.

As far as paperwork, just give them a damn card or bracelet. Have it marked on a driver's license for all I care lol.

I feel like there's be some kind of HIPAA issue there. Even if there wasn't, people could still abuse/fake it.

If my wife takes too long, I like to go and get one and drive around the grocery store in reverse until she succumbs to her master and we leave.

Just get rid of the motors. Go back to self powered wheel chairs. Problem fixed. The fat fricks and the just plain dumb, rude , and inconsiderate fricks wouldn't use them anymore. Only folks that really need them will continue to use them. They can bring a friend to lend a hand.

We should make fatties that would tend to use those things wear those ISIS orange jumpsuits. Want to ride your muffintop arse around on a scooter? Fine but you will be visually identified as an undesirable who should be subject to public scorn.

Only time I've ever spoken to anyone riding it seriously, my wife had a PE.

The irony here is that I realized a lot of the people I looked at as lazy might have actually had an unseen illness.
