Would this type of ranch caretaker job interest you?

I have a client who is retiring (at age 50) and is trying to buy a ranch in New Mexico (about ten sections worth). At lunch the other day, he said that he would like to hire a caretaker to essentially watch the place, check fences, take care of animals (dogs and cats at this point) when they are gone, etc. He's thinking $3000 month, health insurance, truck, house and utilities paid.
I said "I wonder if some recent college grade who loved the outdoors would want to do it for a couple of years?" So, I'm asking here (this is a hypothetical at this point, not seeking job applicants).
It is in the middle of nowhere - town of 200 about 12 miles away, town of 400 20 miles away - nearest big town is Las Vegas NM which is about an hour and one half away.
IF someone wanted to raise a family (the house for the caretaker will be a 3/2) it is a very small school but a good one.
You'd essentially have the run of the ranch, which has been and will probably stay fallow (no cattle or farm animals). Two separate parcels. River canyon (without year round water flow but with pockets of water in it year round), great climate and supposedly decent levels of game. With no animals except they may have a few horses over the summer, you're talking about checking fences (and he might start a small hunting camp if he had the right help).
Again, this is all hypothetical at this point, but I was curious about what outdoor lovers would think about this.
Again, this is in the middle of nothing, so if you're a single guy, you aren't likely to meet women. I would assume that time off would be generous, since he mainly wants a caretaker so someone will be there when he and his wife go on trips.
Thanks.

If I was straight out of college and couldn't find a job, sign me up. Would be pretty fun for a few years.

I would take that job tomorrow. I love the country, animals and don't need to be around a lot of people. Sounds like a great retirement gig for me. Sign me up.

I'd definitely be interested, basically my only expenses would be food and entertainment. If you were responsible(which younger me wasn't) you could do that for a few years and walk away with a nice chunk of change in the bank. Get to be outdoors, ton a free time and a pretty easy job not far from Vegas, yea I'd take it.

Las Vegas NM
One of my best friends moved there 10 years ago and he loves it. FWIW, $3k is a decent income for that area, especially with free housing and use of a vehicle and land where you could hunt and grow your own food.
I wouldn't do it, the fishing sucks there.

A sections is a square mile or 640 acres, so you are talking about 6400 acres...
