Getting Derek Holland back for the stretch run should help. Hopefully he can stay healthy. He is pretty darn good when he is!

The Dutch Oven is my favorite nickname among current players.

They are a fun team to watch but they can't seem to break free of the plus/minus 3 games of 500

I guess that's the definition of an average team

I do like them and feel they could make a late run. You never know with team chemistry and momentum.

Can you imagine if Darvish and Holland were healthy this year?

Cole, Yu, Derek leading the staff next year...
Only thing I worry about is Beltre, dude is fricking old (37 I believe) how long can he continue to produce? I know he is having a "down" season right now but he is still above average for his position.

I think Joey becomes the utility guy next year allowing Beltre to get plenty of rest for the aging bones, and preparing Joey to take his place in 2017.

Been on the bandwagon since my first Rangers game in 90, Nolan Ryan's 299th win, against the Tigers. Should be a good stretch run....i know, for fact, baseball is better when the Rangers and Astros are good. Go Rangers!

Gallo better learn to hit more than what he showed in limited action this year.

Got me by a year, watched Ryan pitch against Oakland back in 91, and was hooked. If I remember correctly Dean and Raffy went back to back early in the game, and Raffy hit one the next inning (it may have been his next AB, but I swear he came up the next inning in my memory).

.218 5HR 13RBI in 25 games isn't horrible. He needs to work on his approach at the plate, which is why being the utility guy next year learning from Beltre for 162 games would help him maximize his potential.

43 strikeouts very low OBP
I understand he won't be an average/OBP guy but he needs to hit closer to .250 with at least a .320 OBP. His defense will never be Beltran but he should have more pop (although Beltran was a 25-30 home run)

Saw Ryan vs Clemens in 92! Also was at Canseco's first game after we made the trade in 92 (or 93). Living in North Louisiana and having relatives in Plano made it easy for me to be a fan. I was HOOKED after my first game in 90, not just on the Rangers but baseball in general.

I agree that his plate discipline needs to mature, and I think with time he will become a .260 .335 guy with 30/150. Adrian is one of the top defensive 3B ever, yes there will be a dropoff there, but Gallo is an average 3B, not a liability.I like the dimension that having Gallo adds. Next year with Beltre off you may still see a lineup with Hamilton, Fielder, Moreland, Profar, and Gallo batting in some order 3-7.

I too am from North LA and had family in Plano. Growing up we made at least a weekend series every year from 92 on. I still remember seeing the new stadium when it opened; the ponds, the replica little league park, the murals, baseball lights, I just remember being in awe from the moment we parked until we left. Rangers baseball was/is summer to me.
