LSU got robbed in that game. a reverse angle on the winning TD pass showed it hit the ground first and was trapped,
Ohio State coach Earl Bruce thought that his Buckeyes had been jobbed in the earlier match in Tiger Stadium, which ended in a tie.
He vowed that LSU would face an officiating crew made up entirely of "Fine men from Ohio" in the rematch.

Most fun I ever had at a football game, even with the loss. It was a great road trip. Back in the day, North High Street was a blast Friday night before the game.

To this day I still never understood that kick. Pretty much opened the door for them. Not sure if it was just a bad kick, but it looked like a designed play at the time (still does to me).
Then the attempted trickery was just baffling, to say the least.

you didn't realize LSU got screwed over in Columbus in 88?

I remember it well. Wish I didn't. Blew a sure win to an inferior team.

Was there when Ohio State came to town.

Won that in Starkville in late November.
my memory could be off, but didn't we win that in jackson? i was at an lsu/msu game in jackson in my soph/jr year of high shcool and remember lsu winning the sec that night and the punter was launching kicks into the stands as time wound down.
it wasn't until 1999 that i got to visit glorious starvkvegas for the crawl in touchdown to beat josh booty.

Hey we beat them in the Superdome when it counted.

More like LSU screwed over itself. Special teams screw-ups (blocked punt for TD early, then a botched pseudo-onside kick near the end of the game); the D had late-game failed blitzes that left receivers wide open; and the offense just pretty much rolled over and died late--LSU even threw away a pass on third down when it should have just run and forced OSU to use up its last time out. The way LSU lost that game to such a bad OSU squad (and settled for a tie against an equally bad OSU team a year earlier) showed that the coaching staff had some issues to resolve if it wanted to sustain the level of winning that Arnsparger set.

I remember it well. Profanity echoed through the halls of Hatcher Dorm loud and long.
It took awhile to get payback, but it was worth it

Lsu Nebraska 1976. Six to six

Also watched Miami beat us down when the rain was blowing sideways
I remember laughing as our ponchos did nothing to protect us.

The tie game made me more mad than the loss the next year.. That 1987 team was special......We finished #5, but who knows what happens had we won that game with OSU....

Can someone help refresh my memory.
It seems like there was a terrible call by the officials calling a fourth quarter Buckeye pass that touched the ground complete when it clearly was not.
Obviously having a review like college football does now would have been critical there, since I believe Ohio State went on to score a touchdown not too many plays later which enabled them to rally for an unlikely victory.

LSU had that game won and let it slip away. Aggravating

I was at that FSU game. Walked back home down Highland Rd in knee deep water. Hallman's team fought like hell that night but couldn't quite pull it off.

I was at the Ohio State game in Baton Rouge in 1987. I vividly remember Hodson hitting Rogue Magee on a slant for a TD. That might be the loudest day game in Tiger Stadium history.

Was herbstreet on that osu team(s)

The #1 ranked FSU rain game was 1991. Had them 16-7 and Odell Sr was running like he was possessed.
