Im kind of perplexed by Cowell. I’m not really sold on him. Seems like an athletic kid who is lacking in other areas. Almost feels like he should be a right back long term or something.

I can definitely see that happening, especially if he wants to get minutes in the Bundesliga

Can we stop the myth that Pefok is a top Bundesliga striker. His 0.35 Goals per 90 worse than Sargents first two seasons at Bremen at 18 and 19. His underlying numbers (npxG+xA) worse than every Sargent Bundesliga season and the same as Pepi's half-season at Augsburg.

Pefok offers something different and should be brought to Qatar but he should not be a starter. He's gone 550 minutes without a goal. A lot of the Pefok stans were slandering Pepi for going 477 mins without a goal.

Sargent is in the line-up today.
At this point, it really seems like we are waiting on Westin for another week to ten days and to see what’s going on with de la Torre.
Unfortunately I’ve written off Richards.
Considering where we were a month ago, the injury situation has really improved.
We are basically missing a good central defender and some depth from our true A squad. Other countries have it way worse.

Fortunately for Pefok he doesn’t need to be a top bundesliga striker, just a top USMNT striker to be on the plane to Qatar. Got to love people that reframe an argument to something they can win.

Also the frame of the argument in that tweet is that he isn't a top USMNT striker per the metrics.

Pefok has three goals on the season. Did he lead the league for 15 minutes between week 3 and 4 of the schedule?
No one thinks he’s a top bundesliga striker. He is a starting striker on a current top bundesliga team which for me puts him on the plane over guys scoring in the holland or against millwall or in the mls or against the fighting Erdogans of Constantinople.

Do you think Union would not be a top the table if they started someone else besides Pefok? What if Union had Pepi or Sargent playing the 9?

Honestly - I have no idea. But bird in hand tells me I don’t really care. Pepi and Sargent haven’t done anything to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they’d have 3 goals and 4 assists as a starting striker for Union in 11 games.
Pefok has the resume over the last 18 months to send him to Qatar.
