Diarse is really tough to bring down after the catch--still don't think he is quite as fast as the others, but he can be effective in running after the catch, as has been mentioned.
I would enjoy seeing several wide receivers contribute, and certainly hope as a group they can stay healthy with limited injuries this season.
One other point: seems like I have read that Quinn & Diarse are two of the top students on the team as well.

Quinn is a very good wr, who runs great routes, has good speed, and somehow got open a lot last year. He was a very good HS player, in a system set up for him to shine. He had Jared Foster throwing to him, and other great talent on that Barbe team so opponents could not focus solely on him. However, TQ started at WR last year for LSU as a true freshman. There's a reason why, in the past, players at LSU sat and watched their true freshman year. LSU had experienced, more mature players who were just better than the freshmen. With the junior NFL draft departures of so many players since 2012, opportunities have opened up that door for great fundamentally sound players like Quinn. Unfortunately, we saw that when an 18 year old is playing in a huge game (such as vs Bama) in front of 102,000, oftentimes the maturity is not there to allow them to perform at the same high level as vs NM State or ULM. And then when the young players drop a catchable and important pass, it affects the game. For example, the pass to a very inexperienced FB vs Bama on the first OT play for LSU. He was just not ready for that kind of pressure, and the pressure was so big after his dropped pass that he disappeared from the LSU team and the program altogether. Quinn had two drops vs Bama that could have altered the outcome, but he's still on the team, competing against great young talent, and is apparently performing well in that respect. So he is still out there, competing, making LSU a stronger team. He may get passed up by Chark or Diarse or some young star, but the result will be that LSU will be putting the best guys on the field vs a very tough SEC schedule this year. Which is how it should be. So let's not jump to throw a young player overboard if he makes a mistake or two, let's watch to see how he handles that adversity and responds this year. Because he just may be the difference vs Bama this year, or it may be a guy he pushed to make better, like Chark or Diarse, who is the difference maker and helps us win a big game.

I pretty much agree.
However as I mentioned earlier Acopper had as many clutch drops that game as Quinn did.
He's not ready yet?
There's been several stud wrs come through LSU that had drop issues early on. No reason to sound the fricking alarm.
Drops are part of the game.
Often times the guy that can run little faster or jump a little higher isn't the best player to be on the field.
There's more to it.

Seriously why are you brining Amari into this conversation. His drops didn't hurt the team. He scored a TD and had a number of receptions while being keyed upon the whole game. U would do better just comparing him to Jarvis and Odell

5Alive has a point (somewhat). Comparing a 22 year old senior vs. an 18 year old freshman may not be the best comparison. Comparing a WR that gets 20 targets a game to one who gets 2 may not be a good comparison.
I think MaconBacon was trying to say that Cooper, a top 5 pick, senior, STUD, droppped twice as many balls as any of our guys. 5Alive has another good point in that Cooper made a big play or two out of the other 15 targets he got. I agree. I would LOVE to see what ANY of our guys could do with 18 targets a game.
5Alive is also correct in saying that Bama overcame the drops, just as much as WE overcame a fumble on the goaline against Ole Miss, and a fumble on the kickoff against TAMU with minutes left in the game. If we win, our errors are not as magnified.

Yet, people put Johnson over Quinn for what he did in high school and has yet to play a down of college football.
This whole Quinn discussion reminds me of the Brandon Lafell tone when he was young and had the same problems.
Look what Lafell accomplished and where is at today.
Because LSU fans are finicky and terribly impatient to let a kid grow up. Kid was never going to be perfect like everyone expects. Especially as a true freshman STARTER in the SEC.

Trey will provide one of these for the trophy case
Lanard will provide Mark Jones with a bad joke about him and his brother's names.

You make a great point with A Cooper. He may have had a few drops, but he also seemed to get a lot more chances, made a lot of catches, and one or two spectacular plays a game. And Odell and Jarvis dropped a few early, but put in the time and got reps behind them to solve that. They turned out to be pretty good, so I'm not that worried about our young receivers now.

Don't bother arguing with geauxpack or 5alive... They've been Quinn haters since when LSU was recruiting him.
No, we are just better at recognizing talent than most of the people on this website. He is a good WR, and he is someone that I expected to be able to play right away, but his ceiling is not as high as alot of other WRs.
