Looking to get a sleeve complete with peonies, cherry blossoms, a single lotus and koi all over wind bars. Any of my OT brethren have a go-to artist around here?
Wind bars will be black and white but I'd like the rest to be in color so looking for someone who can do color and grayscale well. I appreciate any input or suggestions. TIA.
Oh and just so I can be the first one.. trashy.

You need to throw in a neck tat to complete that "don't hire me" look.

Are you Japanese either fully or in part? If not, well then you covered it with your last sentence.

why not also add a bush tattoo in place of your pubes?
i mean, if you're going full japanese and all.

I'd say go with Mandarin instead. The language has a certain ambiguity to it allowing different meanings for the same characters. For instance one sentence could simultaneously say "water is life" and "screw you dad" at the same time.

Willing to wear long sleeves forever to satisfy the baby boomer bosses. Really is a shame that tattoos influence your job search but that's just the reality of it.
Oh and yeah, Ancestry.com DNA kit says I'm 0.4% Japanese...
No I'm not Japanese. IDGAF if I'm not though. The stuff I want has deep meaning to me and I appreciate the culture and art. Ain't your body, baw.

Have you even been to Japan?

Will this be your first tattoo?

Nothing better demonstrates the natural harmony and mystic simplicity of Japanese art than a good tattoo

I'm going to ask the obvious question. Why are you doing this?
Like really why are you doing this. A koi doesn't mean anything to you. 20 years from now you're more than likely going to be dissapointed at what an idiot you were 20 years ago. So what's the point? Trying to bag some chick that "likes guys with tattoos"

Yeah first one. Going big. Been conceptualizing this thing forever. Was scared of how it would affect my work life, but I decided I can't let that keep me from getting this done any longer. The main idea behind the tat for me is how life is beautiful yet temporary so why not, you know?

Right on, . It'll be forever until it's done completely but I'll make sure to update the thread.

It's going to hurt like shite. Make sure it's worth it and something you'll like in 40 years. And make sure the artist does your tattoo EXACTLY how you want it if you have a specific vision in mind. Some artists have a great ability to add their own creativity to bring a piece together... but if that's the case, make sure it's something you're completely on board with. If you think "ehh... that might be cool" - don't let it happen, you'll wish you had done something different.

Why not spend the time and find out about your real heritage? Surely there are some incredible tattoo's that could provide a real meaning for you.
Unless you were saved from rape by a koi fish, then by all means that should provide ample meaning.
