Not trying to flame or be a homophobe. I think the women's US soccer team has 4 or 5 prominent lesbian members. I can't think of many men's teams anywhere that have one gay member, much less 4 or 5.

You really can't figure this out on your own?

It's more acceptable for a woman in sports to be gay than it is a man in sports.

Gay men perform like women, gay women perform like men?

Name one sport where it's beneficial to have a girly man competing. I'll wait.

Probably the same reason there's a higher percentage of male than female homosexuals in theater and fashion design.

Women jocks are butch - I don't know what else to tell you.

Straight girls are more likely to settle down, start a family and have priorities other than sports. Ain't nobody got time for that, plus practice, plus travel, plus games.

What is the percentage of women athletes versus men...I would think that after you worked out that number, the ratios would be similar

Probably unintentional, but that's pretty funny right there.

FIFY, and there's less of a stigma on homosexual women than men.

How has the actual answer not been posted yet? Here's the deal: most lesbians are substantially more masculine than their straight counterparts. With that comes the traits that make for better athletes- greater competiveness, more testosterone (which leads to strength when properly channeled in the weight room), less worry about getting sweaty/physical/dirty, etc.

It's not that hard to figure out.

Greg Louganis is one of my favorite athletes of all time. It is unbelievable how good he was. He came out of the closet after he retired.

I saw him on TV a couple of months ago. He has gone all fabulous and swishy.
