I really liked GBH, but Moonrise Kingdom to me is an absolutely perfect film. Absolutely love it.

See I didn't enjoy Moonrise Kingdom nearly as much as GBH. Different strokes...

Both great films. I'd give the edge to GBH because of Fiennes' performance.

Worth watching a few times more than once.

Idk why but Tenenbaums bored me and I didn't like any of the characters in Life Acquatic

I think I need to watch it again. I watched moonrise kingdom and grand Budapest back to back and enjoyed the former much more.

Royal Tennnenbaums is still WA's masterpiece IMO.

Agreed. I love pretty much all of his movies, but for me, it's all about his characters, and RT has so many memorable characters

I'll always love Tennenbaums the best, mainly due to Hackman. In Anderson movies - where characters scarcely open their mouths to laugh, Royal's coarse antagonism dropped in like a nerd grenade.

My favorite art direction & Mothersbaugh was Life Aquatic. This might be my next avi & I'm thinking of buying a pair of those killer Adidas I found online.

Budapest was his widest & most refined work to me. Layers of great performances, unreal cinematography and a great script. Not that I didn't respect Birdman's achievement, I just thought Anderson had the best overall picture from the last Oscar crop.

Anderson's best, and that's saying a lot. I thoroughly enjoyed it, the movie had both style and content.

Peak Wes Anderson. I don't think he'll ever beat GBH. It's all downhill from here folks

1. Life Aquatic-my favorite Bill Murray role.

"Where'd you come from? You look pregnant."

2. Royal Trnenbaums
3. Rushmore
4. Grand Budapest
5. Moonrise

The rest

Yeah, if you smoke weed, he's the greatest director of all time.

GBH is perfect. I gave it to my dad for Christmas. I never cared for Bottle Rocket because it was early and unrefined. It's okay, but still the only one I put on a lower scale. MK got better on repeat viewings.

darjeeng is his worst by far. he indulged too far in his negative, upper class character memes and it was unenjoyable, boring, and didn't demand attention. i really soured on him after LA and then DL

i've grown to appreciate LA

rushmore is still my #1. it was before he got indulgent and developed the overall style of a "wes anderson film" (which debuted with RT). also as he's gone on, his characters moved to be less realistic. rushmore had the best balance of actual relateable characters who are interesting in the WA style.

moonrise was amazing. it was by far his most engaging movie. it was a really good adventure movie with some real hear. it is literally the anti-darjeeng. it bumped RT to me and is his #2 movie. i have RT 3rd and can't rank any of the others except for DL being way last.

I don't dislike it, but I do agree that he went a bit over the top with characters who were not relatable and for lack of a better description, didn't take me anywhere I wanted to go.

Good analysis, though I think that with GBH, he perfected it in such a way as not to seem overbearing, and I really enjoyed the result.

After seeing his first few movies, it became obvious to me that "this guy's favorite movie is Harold and Maude." When Bud Cort showed up in LA, my opinion was confirmed. In a way, he's just been making sequels to that movie for years, which isn't necessarily a bad thing to me.
