Anyone ever drive the Autobahn?

Looking to travel to Germany later this month and was hoping to rent a German car to take between two of my stops (Berlin, Munich, Prague, Vienna, not necessarily in that order). Was wondering if anyone had any experience with that and could offer advice on best places to drive (best scenery, least amount of traffic).

Yes, lots of people have.

I have. It was pretty intimidating at first, but then you realize, despite their high speed, that everyone is 1000000000x better at driving there.
You'll get passed going 80 mph like you're standing still.
ETA:
I didn't drive in a very scenic area tbh. It was just a bucket list thing and I did it for only like 45 km.

It sounds cool, but honestly I think I'd be a little hesitant to try. I mean it sounds fun driving 120 on open road, but the fact that everyone else is going that fast too, and they're probably more familiar with the roads than me, I feel like I'd be a little anxious.

I lived there for 3 years. The Autobahn from Frankfurt to Kaiserslautern and the one from Frankfurt to Garmisch were pretty fun and open drives.
Stay out of the left lane, except to pass. You'll think you're going fast and no one is behind you. Then, out of nowhere, a Mercedes or BMW is on your back bumper with it's left blinker on.
Know what town you have to drive towards. There isn't anything like I-10 E or W. It's I-10 to New Orleans or I-10 to Lake Charles type of thing.
And Ausfahrt is not a town.

THIS
I got a headlight flash once from a BMW cab of all things and it was HAULING. Had to be going 120++ mph. (I can't remember the km/h conversions off the top of my head)

Drove from Germany to France and to Switzerland. Tolls are ungodly expensive and yes as other poster stated....stay the frick out of the far left lane.

I was confused when I drove for sure.
I agree with whomever said it before that you could be doing 80 and feel like your going nowhere. Moms in hatchbacks would just fly past

My normal drive to work every morning was at 108mph on the Autobahn. I got passed a few times like I wasn't moving by Ford Escort Cosworths.
ETA- Driving in Germany for 3 years reinforced the fact that people in America can't drive for shite and have no road manners. You'd get your butt ran over or arrested if you do half the stuff you do here on the roads in Germany.

People would do well to do the same in this country. This should be a damned law.
It´s fricked up to have varying speeds going on all over the highway.
Also, people would do well to learn fricking road signs and roundabouts. The amount of people who ignore solid lines and cross them, is absolutely staggering. Don´t get me started on the roundabouts.....

It is in most States. Just not enforced by the cops that much.

Yes. I drove the speed limit because I'm a responsible driver.

I’ve always said if I was a politician, one of my main platforms would be to make the driving test ridiculously hard. Like 25% of people pass the first time and some people never pass. That’s how it is in most of Europe (or even harder). American’s are insanely poor drivers. If you coast at 60 mph in the left lane in Germany I’d assume you’d go to jail. It just doesn’t happen.
The beauty of that platform is the people who would be pissed about it are too young to vote.
ETA:
Both the exam and actual road test. You have to get 100% on everything to pass and you take several road tests.

There's only a speed limit in the cities. Not in the countryside. Gotta love the end of all limits sign.

It is the law. That's the saddest part.

I got on the Autobahn when I was stationed in Germany back in the late 80's. It was nothing adventurous though since I was in a huge slow moving military convoy heading to the tank ranges down in Grafenwoehr. In fact it was mind numbingly boring as I recall.

It kinda is. There are two separate statutes that apply. One only prohibits "rolling roadblocks" and is poorly written. The other states that drivers have to obey signs designating a particular lane for slower moving traffic. There are signs that say something like "Keep right except to pass or turn" and "Slower moving vehicle keep right." So disobeying these signs could be an offense. It would be nice if the legislature would be a little more clear though.
