Yep. Adam Amin would rather call an LSU-UNO midweek baseball game on radio than be the lead play-by-play guy on a national ESPN TV broadcast.

who do you think makes more?

i saw Amin calling a fricking volleyball game before. Oh yea, that's so glorious

Adam Amin likely makes 2-3 times more doing all his random crap on TV than what the LSU job pays. I'd be shocked if the LSU gig pays 6 figures....and I guarantee Amin makes way more than that on TV

you're dreaming if you think a 28yr old, bottom of the barrel ESPN announcer is making 6 figures.

and i dont mean bottom of the barrel as an insult. I just dont think you make 6 figures announcing college wrestling and volleyball at ESPN. I do think he has a bright future. And ive read his AMA on redit before. He has bigger goals than to be the voice of LSU, so it doesnt matter anyway.

Lyn Rollins would be an awful choice.

If it's Rollins, I may never listen to another game again.

Definitely not an upgrade.

The thing with Wright is he knows the rules of each game and if and when he messes something up, he corrects himself. He doesn't pretend you didn't hear him mispronounce a name or cover up a mistake. He has covered a variety of sports at LSU. I don't know if he is the best available out there, but you want someone who genuinely cares for the program. If anybody wants to cover softball and women's basketball and whatever other sports that aren't the meat and potatoes at LSU, they have to have some kind of strong desire for the overall love of the school.

Can't stand Hannigriff's monotone voice.

Rollins gets old after awhile.

ULM's Frank Hoffman would be the ideal choice if he was younger. He has been calling their games since the 1970s and his call "Touchdown Northeast" was classic when they were NLU. Great voice...

ANYBODY but Charles Hanigriff!
This. Sounds like he is on Valium. The fact that's even in the group of Finalists has us worried. Is this a "Dog and Pony Show" or what?

Hope the "National Finalists" are light years ahead of the local yokel Canine and Equine boys........

Yeah .. You have that group and JUST 4 other national candidates out of 120 applicants .. Really ? Looks like LSU is trying to keep some happy enough to continue their $25 a game talent fee broadcast duties ..

Hoffman is spectacular. But could only last like 3 years before someone would need to chop his food

Some audio samples of some of the candidates. Each is about 12-15 seconds.

Couldn't find any Rollins on the net for some reason. I guess all of the CST stuff is copyrighted and isn't floating around.

Lyn Rollins is very knowledgeable, but just way, way too unlikeable to be the voice of the tigers.

Unless there's a "national voice"... and I hope there is..Hanagriff is my pick. The rest just stink.

Just a personal preference, nothing more. I hope they get a distinctive voice. Hawthorne was always that. I trust they will get someone that fits the mold, but they will have a tough, tough choice.

Regardless of his reputation on this board, Jim Hawthorne is in the top 10% of college sports announcing.

Not even close. Glad to see he's leaving on his own terms, but Jim began falling off years ago.

That would be my preference, but for some reason our admins seem to be wed to the one voice thing.

Hanny has little interest in LSU hoops and if I'm not mistaken has said so on the air. I would not want someone with that mentality covering hoops. I wish they would split it.

But I think just because their naming names on the local guys doesn't mean it's going to be one of them. Good well end up being one of the national guys they aren't naming.

But I did hear Brando is pushing hard for the Northwestern guy, FWIW. Hopefully nothing.

Probably will depend on who has more pull within LSU between Hanagriff and Rollins.

More than likely this guy will be the new voice of the Tigers IMO.
