Has anyone here ever removed or filled in a pool? How much did it cost? How did it go?
Hopefully okay on this board.
Thanks!

It is an outdoor pool.
I can't get pictures at the moment, as the house is under contract.
I am not familiar with Will Cover.

My wife's grandparents filled theirs in years ago. They just had several loads of dirt dumped in it until it was full. Then he planted a garden in it. They left the strip of concrete around it for a sidewalk. Just a 3 foot wide area around the perimeter.

Don't just dump dirt in it. Get it removed properly.

No one is.

It seems to me that before you fill it with sand/dirt you may want to punch a bunch of holes in the bottom to excess moisture or rain water will drain down into the soil below. I have seen similar but smaller structures turn into muddy swamps under heavy rain situations.

Yes, I did. We're using it every time we can to ensure we are getting our monies worth.

You MUST get a jackhammer and punch holes in it or else it will pop up out of the ground.

It won't pop out the ground, it will however stay a muddy mess if you don't break up the concrete.

Thanks for clearing that up.

That will depend on where your water table is.
In Lafayette, water would leak into a pool.

We have done it a few times for people. Always busted some holes in it filled in lifts and compacted the fill. Never had a issue after many years

Triggerr,
We have been given a ballpark estimate of $2000 - $8,000, depending on amount of concrete, drains, plumbing removal, location, etc. Does that sound about right? The guy sounds experienced. I don't think I could undertake it.
Thanks.
