re: Thibs has no interest in coaching Pelicans, feels AD will leave soon

Will a splashy hire get you more games on ESPN? Possibly, but I think AD almost single handedly bringing the Pels back at Oracle in the 4th in game 1 was the only sales pitch the team needed. Games on ESPN is the absolute wrong reason to pick a coach. Win and the national respect will come.

I have a hard time believing this, but I do think the coaching search comes down between JVG and Gentry.

A lot of people in Chicago think what helped end Thibs relationship with Chicago's management was JVG acting as Thibs' mouthpiece in the media and ripping the Bulls, publicly, for how they've been treating Thibs.
As soon as Thibs got fired JVG was back at it yesterday. He went on the radio and shitted all over those guys again, to the point where he basically mocked whatever bogus idea the Bulls will put out there about a "coaching search," and wished Fred Hoiberg the best at his new job. Said he hoped they treat Fred better than last few guys there.

I hate threads like this.
I remain confident that AD will sign an extension, but this kind of speculation isn't good for an old guy's nerves.
Anyway, I don't think Thibs knows jackshit about what AD will do, although I assume he does know AD fairly well. Plus the info is at least second hand if based on anything at all. But just to be safe, frick Thibs.

MM is speculating this is sour grapes from the Thibs camp for us not being interested, but to me the most likely explanation is someone filling the information vacuum with either uninformed guessing, or if it's Chicago, a continuation of the PR war they are waging against Thibs.

He's awfully butthurt because we aren't interested. First his camp releases that we can't afford him then they say we're going to lose AD. Neither are true, just calm down

If this is just lashing out from the Thibs camp then it's no wonder we aren't interested. Loomis doesn't need that kind of drama, he just got rid of all of the alleged tension between Dell and Monty that he was forced to be in the middle of.

If this is his way of negotiating, then he's pretty bad at it.

With those parentheses put in that tweet it makes me think that Thibs just told people he didn't want to coach all three teams and that guy just filled in the blank for what he thought the reasons were

I seriously doubt Thibs has told anyone he's not taking the job because AD is leaving. Again, Vecsey is terrible and looking for twitter followers.
Thibs could easily just say he's taking the year off, without the AD part, and still save face.
Guys with actual info were already starting to say that yesterday.
Or he could just not comment on the Pels job at all, and nobody would even bring his name up if JVG or Gentry are hired. I don't see why he'd be looking to save face in the first place. Its not like Thibs publicly campaigned for the job, then bombed the interview. Not getting the Pels job doesn't make Thibs look bad.
Mark Jackson was asked if he was contacted by the Pels. He said no, and that was the end of it. No embarrassment there, or need to save face.
JVG on the other hand. Trying to get back in the game after all these years, and not getting the job. I could see him doing some spinning, afterward.

Several Thibodeau confidantes have suggested him taking season off, collecting Bulls' check and waiting for 16-17 openings.

AD is going to be getting the frick out of here.
Sooner we come to grips with this, the sooner we can be one with our fate.
