Why are all of the south african folks I meet white, when S. Africa is 7% white?

Seems like Bayesian calculations would show that the probability of meeting a black south African tourist here in America is far higher than the probability of meeting a white south African, yet of the many south African folks I encounter here, I don't think I have ever met one of native African descent. They are all the white European ones.
Considering the fact that South Africa is only 7% white, why is this the case? Are all 90% of black south Africans economically disadvantaged?
It goes to show how brutal the oppression/Apartheid was. Even now, as the years go by since it ended, they are still so much worse off than such a tiny minority of the country.

Wouldn't your point be helped by seeing if you could figure out the race of SA immigrants here, rather than using only personal experience? How many South African natives have you actually met?

South Africa probably has the largest percentage of white expats in the world (compared to whites who were born there). I know many South Africans and have traveled there and its very very difficult to be a white South African there now. Most white native SA's are living abroad and have no plans to ever move back.

I recommend a documentary called "Tell me and I will Forget." It is on Netflix.
It follows paramedics in South Africa and it reveals the real problems that exist there. It makes New Orleans, DC, Chicago and Detroit look tame by comparison.
It will also answer your question since you obviously didn't pay attention in history class or never read world news.
