How does Tim Tebow not have a roster spot?
Tebow just signed a 1 year contract with the Eagles

That might have been part of it. I do think he was given less of a chance compared to others in the NFL because some teams didn't want the extra media attention or potential problems with homophobic teammates.
I find it hard to believe that he didn't make it i the NFL as a defensive specialist or backup.
Shh don't say that around here. Any legitimate grievance is always an excuse or a fabrication around here

With that said.
If you're too small to play 4-3 END and too slow to play 3-4 OLB then you better be a killer ST player or else there is not place for you in the league

So you truly think that an NFL team that is willing to give rapists, murders, and wife beaters a roster spot that will surely damage their image, wouldn't give that spot to a homosexual in 2015?
Get the frick out.

6'2", 261 lbs, slow, weak (17 reps BP-not even a good number for a safety), very poor results in other measurables.
How hard is it to comprehend that the guy is perfect CFL material?

His cone drill was off the charts though!

Michael Sam: Studying the Game Tape
quote:
So basically in his final five games plus 40 snaps against Oklahoma State—the best competition Sam faced all season—he had no splash plays. The right tackles he faced (as a left end he didn’t go against Texas A&M left tackle Jake Matthews, a projected top-10 pick) in that stretch were more of what he will see in the pros. The right tackles he beat up to gain his production likely wouldn’t be on NFL training-camp rosters. Four of his sacks came with lesser opponents desperate and behind by large margins in the fourth quarter, in obvious passing situations. In addition, Florida’s offensive line was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Lastly: Sam’s sack against South Carolina in overtime was on an unblocked stunt.
quote:
Of his first 10 sacks of the season, only once was he engaged with a blocker and defeated him (first sack against Vanderbilt). The rest were seven speed rushes around the end against inferior competition, and two when he wasn’t blocked.
quote:
He’s very good at being assignment-sure and in the right spot immediately after the snap, indicating he takes coaching well, but after that the game does not appear to come naturally to him. It’s a constant theme on tape that he often falls for zone-read play-fakes and also struggles to diagnose screens.

In other words, no instinct, slow, and can't hang with the big boys.
If I remember correctly, early analysis of him said a lot of his sacks came when the qb was flushed to his side by his teammates.

Had I been the GM of the 49ers I would signed Sam and quashed any locker room homophobia quickly. He might not have played and he might have just been a waste of a roster spot, but the money from Michael Sam mdse sales in the Bay Area gay community for just a few years would have made it worth it.

I guess we now know why your GM career never took off

So you agree that he doesn't have NFL talent...:yet you think he was treated unfairly because he was gay
So basically he should've been given a roster spot because he was gay?

don't engage SS, its useless.

I was being facetious.

Too slow to be an edge rusher or LB, too small to be a DL. It's not complicated.

Cowboys signed him to the practice squad before waiving him. Jerry Jones would sign Bin Laden if he could make plays. Obviously couldn't.

Even Heisman trophy winners bust in the NFL all the time.

True, but even Pat Sullivan and Steve Spurrier made NFL teams. Sam didn't even stick around on the practice squad all season. Even Tebow has gotten multiple chances.
I just wonder if he wasn't gay would he be given more opportunity in the NFL.
